ATLANTA (AP) Police officers who arrived at the wrong Atlanta home after a report of suspicious activity shot the man who lives there, killed his dog and "likely" shot a fellow officer, leaving him seriously wounded, authorities said Tuesday.
The bloody misunderstanding began Monday night when DeKalb County police received a report of a possible burglary at a one-story residence near an intersection in southeast Atlanta. Lacking an exact address, the officers were sent in the dark to a neighborhood where many of the single-story homes look similar.
Three police officers found a home they thought matched a description provided by a 911 caller, but were unable to make contact with anyone inside, according to a statement from the Georgia Bureau of Investigation. They entered the home through an unlocked rear door and two officers fired their guns at a dog, killing it.

GBI officials said there is no evidence the residents there had committed any crimes.
If they have, Im sure we will hear about it in the near future.
The cops went to the wrong house, shot the homeowner, his dog and one of their own officers.
Great job, guys.
If those idiots had done that in my house they’d be looking over their shoulders every day for the rest of their lives.
I support good cops. I loathe corrupt or stupid ones.

Geez...
This is some real Keystone Cop s*** here if this story is the case.
A bunch of Keystone Murderers.
SWATing?
GA FReeper ping.
Follow up from last night.
I’ve met Cedric Alexander, the DeKalb public safety director, who’s relatively new here. Today, I bet he’s wondering why he ever decided to come here from Dallas.
Why do they have to kill dogs? I would be scared to call the cops to my house because I have three dogs who don’t like strangers.
“A bloody misunderstanding” perfect description.
I hear Leah screaming, I see Chris walking out, They just shot me, they just shot me, and they killed my dog, Colson said. So I got him to lay down, took my shirt off and rendered first aid. And Chris just kept saying, Why did they shoot me? Why did they shoot my dog?
The McKinleys were watching TV a movie called Serendipity when they heard voices in the backyard and Chris went to investigate, Colson said.
He says, I opened the door to see what the dogs were barking at, and I see black uniforms and I hear pop-pop-pop-pop, Colson said.
The low intensity conflict is heating up, but with stupidity as an unexpectedly integral aspect.
That is the premise for what is called "SWATint". A 911 caller identifies your house late at night and indicates that they saw armed intruders. SWAT shows up and kills your dog, shoots your wife and trashes your house.
UN-friggin-believable.
But then again...
I heard on the radio news this morning that they were asking for prayers for the wounded officer and the home owner. I thought that was kid of weird but I can understand why now.
Way way too many SWAT teams. They get bored easily too.
Too bad they were not wearing Go-cams so that we can see what sort of stupidity (or treachery) actually occurred.

Right you are L. And the bigger problem for decent homeowners who have weapons in the home for self-protection can come face to face with cops “breaking and entering” w/o warning and have splt seconds to decide who the “illegal intruders” are. Just a recipe for getting yourself killed no matter who is coming through the door.
This $hit has to stop! It’s criminal activity, not law enforcement.
I know a family about to be very rich.
“I know a family about to be very rich.”
But it won’t be the LE paying, it’ll be their neighbors, the taxpayers.
Time to write laws that make each and every govt worker involved, pay for the rest of their lives.
