Surrender Monkey Mitch McConnell Caves On Planned Parenthood
CHQ ^ | 9/1/2015 | CHQ Staff

Posted on 09/01/2015 9:40:06 AM PDT by xzins

Before the battle to withdraw federal funds from baby body parts trafficker Planned Parenthood has even begun the Senate’s Republican Majority Leader, Senator Mitch McConnell, has already surrendered.

In an interview with Lexington, Kentucky TV station WYMT McConnell announced “that funding the government Mitch McConnellis the top challenge facing him when he returns to the Capitol next week” and he would work with the White House to come up with budget levels to keep the government open past Sept. 30 without a rider defunding baby body parts trafficker Planned Parenthood.

“The Senate Democrats have a big enough number to prevent us from doing things. They prevented us from doing any of the bills that appropriate money for the government, thereby forcing a negotiation when we go back in after Labor Day, which I’ll be engaged in with the administration and others to try to sort out how much we’re going to spend and where we’re going to spend it,” McConnell told WYMT.

Now here’s the most amazing item of hypocrisy in the McConnell – WYMT interview; Mitch McConnell claims he “led” on the issue of stopping Planned Parenthood from dismembering babies and selling their body parts.

“We just don’t have the votes to get the outcome that we’d like,” McConnell responded when asked about defunding Planned Parenthood. “I would remind all of your viewers: The way you make a law in this country, the Congress has to pass it and the president has to sign it. The president has made it very clear he’s not going to sign any bill that includes defunding of Planned Parenthood, so that’s another issue that awaits a new president hopefully with a different point of view about Planned Parenthood.”

We are reminded that when we endorsed Mitch McConnell’s opponent in the Republican primary a McConnell supporter wrote us to extol Senator McConnell’s great pro-life record.

We’re wondering what that nice lady thinks of Senator McConnell’s “commitment to life” now.

Now here’s another interesting item buried in the McConnell – WYMT interview and ferreted out by Roll Call’s Niels Lesniewski: McConnell said that in order to really make the changes he envisions on regulations, Republicans need a nominee at the top of the ticket who can win purple states — rattling off a list of places where he also needs Republicans to win Senate contests to continue as majority leader in 2017.

“Whoever our nominee is is going to have to appeal in places like Ohio, Pennsylvania, New Hampshire, Florida, Colorado, Nevada — those states that tend to go back and forth,” McConnell said. “Looking at the polling data in those key states, I think people are ready to go in a different direction. We just have to nominate somebody that they find appealing.”

Translation – McConnell plans to back a content-free establishment Republican presidential candidate like Jeb Bush or John Kasich and replay the dirty tricks campaign he used to thwart conservative senate candidates.

To paraphrase our friends at The Madison Project: If there is one individual who represents the face of the stale, tone-deaf, timid, moss-covered and obtuse leadership of the GOP establishment, it is Mitch McConnell. Mitch McConnell emblematizes the rudderless leadership, vacuous core, and duplicitous tendencies of the powers that be within the Republican Party.

Yeah, I've heard this before.

"If you don't think Trump is a conservative, then you must be a supporter of Jeb, or Mitch, or Boehner......"

This is exactly the same technique used by Obama: "My Iran deal, or war. No other alternatives."

Not buying it, not for a second.

He wants PP funded. He has pressure from his voters to defund. He won’t defund. He held his ground.

It’s not that we think a TDSer is a supporter of Jeb, Mitch, or Boehner.

It’s that we think they have no GOP-Eer to go to worth putting a lick of trust in.

Take a good look at this poster. As always, Trump looks directly at you. As always, McConnell and Boehner always look away, scared to look people in the eye.

For anyone paying the most minimal of attention? Yup. Neon lit obvious.

For people looking for reasons to excuse their personal liberalism? Not so much. And lets face it. People that came here and elsewhere rabidly demanding GOP votes after the house and (then) future senate leaders campaigned on working WITH and not AGAINST Obama are by their own votes, demonstratedly expressing their personal support for liberalism.

This from a guy that screamed regularly at Freepers who refused to vote for a man who personally funded, legislated on behalf of, and profits from the otherwise unsellable products of planned parenthood...on a thread about abortion.

Oh Irony. Where is they sting?
