GOPe is totally stupid, and that’s why they’ve lost the last several elections. But there needs to be a platform with some positions, and Trump (a) has no positions on most things except hating all the other GOP candidates (he’s never attacked Obama) and (b) has no specifics, except for seriously unrealistic things, about how he would accomplish his one goal, which seems to be ridding the US of Mexicans.

Outstanding post LS. Could not agree with you more. If Trump can seal the border, deport the majority of illegals, right our trade deficits to somewhere near equilibrium, and repeal Obamacare, then I am one happy dude and he will have done more than any president in my lifetime, Ronaldus Magnus included. The rest of these guys talk a great game and fold at the first sign of trouble. People talk about what a great conservative Cruz is, but he’s had several opportunities to do the conservative thing on a number of votes and shows he’s just enough of an establishment guy to not be trusted either.
So for example, with the shutdown---why didn't Cruz have more than one follower (Lee?) At the very least he should have convinced Paul, Sessions, Scott at least to back him? On the Export/Import Bank he could have added Ernst and Cotton to the caucus. But nothing.
It's fine to make a moral stand. Wheee. Whoop. Now what? What did you accomplish?
Trump makes them all look like little boys and girls (if one counts Carly)..say what one wants about Trump, but he is indisputably a leader and they all pale in comparison to him. I spent 10 years in the AF, 4 at the academy and you can spot a leader from a mile away. Some are in positions of authority because they were put there, others because they earned it. A few grow into it. Trump is a born leader and people follow him. His success in this race is really quite simple. If anyone has seen Band of Brothers, Trump is Dick Winters, and someone like say, Jebbie is Lt. Dike.
