In 2002, the Devils Brigade marched on Helena and posted colors at Memorial Park. Surviving members of the World War II fighting force shared stories of landing in Italy, liberating Rome and defeating well-placed German artillery guns.
Now, 11 years after their last big ceremony, the nations first special operations force may get its day in glory, as a bill to award the Devils Brigade the Congressional Gold Medal inches forward in Washington, D.C.
HEY, Thanks! bookmarked!
Now, do you know of, have location for a two or three (?) part series that PBS ran on the Devils Brigade? Filmed in Helena @ Fort Harrison, re-enactments, etc, couple of years ago.
I only have one good recording on DVR of one episode (weather here can be terrible on over the air, almost as much corruption as in DC/Hillery’s House)
I lost all my bookmarks on the old Gateway when I updated to new FireFox (they were apologetic about it though)
my father-in-law was in the Devils Brigade.
I hope that he was able to relate some history to you that you may pass it on, many can’t/won’t, understandably.
Please thank him for his service, if passed, allow me to thank you for him.
I’ll pass that on to my wife..
he gave me the devil brigade medallion.
