The affirmative action failures always have an excuse based on their skin color. Schools should not make promises they cannot guarantee. They ought to teach students that life is not fair. Sometimes they will have to adjust their goals in order to cope with disappointment and still have a happy life. That is a crucial life skill that parents and teachers must teach in order to combat the mental illness rampant in young people today. (Back in the old days, parents of faith passed that invaluable foundation on to their children. As the old hymn put it, “When every earthly prop gives way, Jesus is my staff and stay.” He makes life make sense in dark times.)
