So the Scouts win the PR battle and so do the local churches that sponsor nearly all the troops in America.

That goes for the LDS as well. Too many Christians are wimps. Christ wasn't and isn't. He engages and wins.
So you think that the average parent, particularly those at Christian churches which sponsor the vast majority of Scout Troops want their kids molested? Are you going bonkers?
These people are not going to give up. The churches will be forced to accept gay Scout leaders within a year. Bet on it.
No, I think the BSA will eventually tell churches to allow gay Scoutmasters or else be barred from the BSA.
Some churches will cave, some won’t.
Then BSA loses 70% of its troops. Plus, it’s not designed that way. Troops decide.
