A disgruntled former news reporter who shot dead two of his ex-coworkers during a live TV segment this morning is in very critical condition after attempting to kill himself.
Viewers of WDBJ, a small CBS affiliate in Moneta, Virginia, watched in horror this morning as the Vester Lee Flanigan II shot dead 24-year-old reporter Alison Parker and cameraman Adam Ward, 27, on live TV as the two were filming a light-hearted segment at 6:45am.
After carrying out the shocking on-air execution, Ward rented a car at the airport and then started driving east.
Police finally cornered Flanigan just before noon, about three hours northeast, in Fauquier County, Virginia, but he refused to stop and sped away from troopers.
Flanigan then crashed the car off the road and when police surrounded the vehicle, they found him suffering from a life-threatening gunshot wound.

i don’t think it’s fair for the media to impugn the character of this woman by repeating the claims that she made racial comments. to certain types of angry black activists, everything is a racial comment if they are upset at you. what’s more, this guy is a murdering nutcase. nobody should take his word that she said any such things. the media needs some decorum here... you have a murdered young woman who is being libeled from beyond the grave by her murderer. everyone should take anything he wrote on twitter with a grain of salt.
my bet is he probably had a crush on her or sexually harassed her and that’s why he was fired, and he nursed a grievance over it in his head.

There is much evidence of a disgruntled, angry, incompetent black person rebuffed in his attempt to bed a white woman.
Previous employers and coworkers comfirm he was an indolent, underperforming worker with a chip on his shoulder.

All in all, Daily Mail reporting is deep and extensive, and I’m not surprised that factual errors (like a wrong name) happen, especially in breaking news reports.

That was his self-expressed motive on Twitter, IIRC. I haven’t seen a description of the “slights.”

You nailed it but there will be some who will come to his aid saying it’s tough to be a black man in news reporting nowadays. I live near a large city and most of the anchors/reporters are minorities and they’re so good they keep you coming back. Hope this POS lives......lives to die another day with a needle in his arm!
