I have heard several versions, the first was three marines, then two and a reporter friend, and as the blanks got filled in the story changed. I'd love to be able to give the proper attribution, but in the end, thank God for 'our guys', whichever branch they serve in.

Yeah, I noticed, too, that the details seemed to change a lot. I suspect that it has to do with reporters who are eager to be the first to break a story. Guess they don’t worry about their impact on their credibility, such as it is.
