Photographer Devin Allen grew up in west Baltimore surrounded by crime, drugs and murder. Photography offered him not only a means of rediscovering his communitys beauty, but it also literally saved his life. Still, he never dreamed that one of his photos would land him on the cover of TIME magazine and give voice to his citys pain during one of its darkest hours.

The gullible are buying lies, and the criminals are using them to loot.
I like the ratio.
It is interesting how different people can look at the same photo and draw different conclusions.
The difference between 1968 and 2015 being, of course, that in ‘68 it was criminals using a moral fight for equality under the law as an excuse for criminal behavior, and in ‘15 it’s criminals using criminal behavior as an excuse for even more criminal behavior.
Of course “Time” will never tell you that.
In a span of about 3 days, the following events occurred in and near Ferguson, MO.
—A black man fled out of the back of a house and pointed a stolen at police and was shot dead.
—A nine year old black girl was doing homework on her mother’s bed and was shot in a drive-by shooting and killed by a black man.
—A 93 year old Tuskeegee vet visiting his daughter was carjacked and beaten by a black man.
Guess which one they are rioting and looting over?
That says all that needs to be said about the state of BLACK AMERICA in 2015.
Yes, it says the majority are basically criminals and don’t want to either go to jail or face a gun by police.
Criminals are rioting (another criminal activity) because they don’t want to go to jail.
As Rhett said, “you’re like the prisoner who isn’t sorry for what he did but terribly sorry that he’s going to jail”.
That covers why the riots.
Otherwise protests would be over the actual innocent, not scumbuckets.
Disgusting that these scum were even down as far as the old Camden Station (on right border of pix), which of course is the immediate neighbor of the Orioles stadium (behind old Camden RR warehouse long building on right) and Ravens beyond that.
Harbor 3 blocks to left.
Scum.
Such a load of crap to compare 1968 to 2015. How do these people have any credibility anymore?

That's pretty good.
Having been able to successfully avoid Time Mag knowing of my present address, and then sending me copies of their magazine which I do not want, upon reading the headline to this thread, and not having the so-called "Iconic" image come to mind, I thought first of this one;
Sourced from 'pbs'. Is that not iconic also? For the above, I reduced the image size as form of public service (to limit the grotesqueness of the man's extended tongue).
Cherry picking photographs. I have to admit that was a talented shot but it had nothing to do with what actually was going on.
“Iconic” my little brown eye.
Why would he steal a bundle of tampons?
,,,,,, tampons make great fuses for mullatoff cocktails I suppose .
Ferguson just showed how we pissed away billions in reparations over fifty years; too many blacks still can’t read and are unemployable.
Looks like justice is about to be meted out via hickory shampoo.
So yeah; I approve!
The black literacy rate was higher 110 years ago than it is today.
A taxpayer could argue convincingly thar the money extorted from him and given to black people has been a complete and utter waste.
50 years of money transfer from the producers, given to the non-producers.
Speaking for the taxpayers, let me just say “I want my trillion doars back”.
I absolutely believe that; we have regressed to the point where teachers’ unions have determined it is once again illegal to teach blacks to read.
It has been an absolute waste of money, and the grasshoppers are enraged at the hard-working ants to boot. At this point most taxpayers (corporate and otherwise) are simply looking to relocate to greener pastures where they won’t be greeted with outstretched palms...
