The Reform Jewish movement, the liberal denomination that represents a plurality of American Jews, has declined to endorse, or oppose, the Iran deal.
In a statement, the Reform movement said:
At this time, there is no unity of opinion among the Reform Movement leadership lay and rabbinic alike just as there is not unity among our membership as to the JCPOA itself; but there is unity as to the important questions and concerns we pose in this statement. Thus, there is simply no clarity that would support taking a position for or against the JCPOA itself.
The statement recounts the arguments both for and against the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA), and reiterates that Iran is a threat to both the U.S. and Israel. The statement adds that it is deeply concerned about the tension, and the harsh rhetoric, in the discourse between President Obama and Prime Minister Netanyahu and hopes that the relationship between the two governments can be repaired.

Is this the denomination that voted for Obama by a large percentage?

Oh, yeah. They are heavily kapo.
Declined to endorse, and declined to oppose, huh...
Man, oh man, that, right there, is some real courage.
??????????
Caveat emptor.
This is a very interesting non-position.
"We are not saying whether, after being gassed, that we want to go into the ovens on high heat or low heat as of this time..."
Reform Judaism is the most liberal branch of Judaism.
Which raises the question, if even the most liberal Jewish rabbis refuse to endorse the Iran treaty, how will the eight Jewish Senators and numerous Jewish Congressmen who DO plan to endorse it be able do so without going beyond the pale of Judaism?
The Debbie Wasserman Schultzes and Al Frankens of Congress will go beyond being mere Jews In Name Only to being outright anti-Jewish activists by supporting a treaty that every branch of Judaism considers too anti-Jewish to support.
(Esther 4:13) Then Mordecai commanded to answer Esther, Think not with thyself that thou shalt escape in the king’s house, more than all the Jews.
(Esther 4:14) For if thou altogether holdest thy peace at this time, then shall there enlargement and deliverance arise to the Jews from another place; but thou and thy father’s house shall be destroyed: and who knoweth whether thou art come to the kingdom for such a time as this?
Wow, a real 'Profiles in Courage' moment here!

quote “The three Congressmen representing the Fresno area are two Republicans (Jeff Denham and Devin Nunes) and one Democrat, Jim Costa. The Republicans are opposed to the nuclear deal with Iran, but Costa is still undecided. As part of its campaign against the deal, AIPAC is holding townhall meetings with its members and undecided congresspersons. Tonight there will be such a meeting with Jim Costa in Fresno.
It will take place in an Evangelical church, the Cornerstone Church of Pastor Jim Franklin.”

Lib Jews Just Punted like they did before the last Holocaust in WWII
Good for them!
It’s Reform Judaism. What would one otherwise expect? They have no position on anything.
That was my first thought, you’re the first to express it. Would have been nice had they opposed it. I’d have been pleased, though I acknowledge that Reform Judaism takes too many political positions not relevant to Judaism. I’m OK with a pass, I’d like to see pass’ in the future on political issues.

That is dangerous ground you are standing on . God said he would bring them back in unbelief .... anyone who stands in the way is standing on the OPPOSITE SIDE
Not so much. Thinking and deciding for yourself is a cherished value and core principle for Reform, Conservative, and modern Orthodox Jews. Pretty much only Ultraorthodox can really be counted on to fall in line with their rabbinical leadership.
Numerous rabbis have endorsed the Iran nuclear accord, but no so surprise that Reform Judaism as one entity declines to voice a Yea or Nay. Doing so would contradict the principle of respecting thinking and deciding for oneself.
For those who need a barf alert or “trigger warning,” this link comes from a liberal Jewish source.
