I really noticed that when he caressed the flag and brushed his cheek against it, he had an expression of reverent pleasure on his face. He loves this Country, he loves that flag and he loves the salt of the earth people who make it work; who have been screwed over by DC for several decades. To me, that little 10 second scene was Donald letting down his guard and giving us a look straight into his heart. He felt he could take the risk of doing that because of his confidence in the truth and genuineness of the people who’d come out to hear him speak. IMHO. When I saw that all I thought about was Obama not saluting during the pledge in 08 at a campaign stop and Michelle saying "All this for a damn flag?"
The contrast is remarkable

I don’t think he’s surging. He’s popular, but the crosstabs show that only 15% of respondents have decided for someone. 19% are leaning and 66% are undecided. It’s soft.

but mostly, he has charisma. The charisma carries the message so loudly and clearly that it can’t be missed. There is personal satisfaction gleaned from seeing and listening to the Trump message
Meanwhile, the message from all the others, including Cruz, is like the message of a computer printout of a telephone book. Admittedly, Curz is not a boring as Jeb, but he does not ignite the fires.
The adage was “the medium is the message” Donald Trump as his own medium is the message that is resounding all across the country
and, being the anti Obama helps a lot too
