You bring up some good points. If I remember correctly his last Sec-Def set him right and Carter did not stop the work that lead to the F117A and the B-2, which had gone on since 1974 behind the scenes...

Old leftys with gold plated health care seem to live a very long time (Carter, Soros, Castro, etc). Bush, Reagan, Thurmond, etc. Gold-plated healthcare seems the norm for presidents, senators, and billionares.
