Billionaire real estate mogul and presidential candidate Donald Trump continues to dominate the GOP field both in hurling insults at his fellow Republicans and in the polls, but now it appears his rivals have decided that if they’re going down, they’re going down swinging.
The Fox Business Network has learned that at least some of the campaigns are discussing an attack-ads blitz against The Donald in the coming weeks, according to several financial executives who have direct ties to the various campaigns. These people tell Fox Business that the campaigns of Wisconsin Gov. Scott Walker and Florida Sen. Marco Rubio in particular are currently raising money with aims to hit Trump on various issues such as his controversial comments about immigration, as well as his record as a businessman, in these ads.
The campaign of Kentucky Sen. Rand Paul may also follow suit, they say. Those likely to stay out of the anti-Trump attacks include Texas Sen. Ted Cruz, who has a similar position to Trump on immigration and is looking to siphon some of Trump’s support.
Former Florida Gov. Jeb Bush, meanwhile, is expected to spend money from his enormous war chest, which includes more than $100 million in so-called Super PAC money. But the Bush spending is expected to focus on his record in politics and underscore his skills as a candidate rather than in attacking rivals, fundraisers tell Fox Business. Super PACS are fundraising vehicles that can raise unlimited amounts of money but can’t work directly with campaigns.

His strategy, as I keep saying, is brilliant: spend very minimal amounts of his own money. Use the vast amount of free publicity while the other guys bleed cash. The more they attack him, the more free publicity he gets. It’s like a Chinese finger trap.
Bingo. And the more they appear to “gang up” the more they all appear to be part of the problem.

Very simple talking points, and they all belong to Trump. The GOPe made their bed, they not only have to sleep in it, it is becoming their death bed.
After every attack on Trump, his poll numbers go up.

That’s like trying to shout -down a tornado.
You know, Jim should start a political consulting firm. Well educated, politically savvy real people outside of the DC beltway are in abundance here. Imagine the position papers that could be written.
Not successful in the corporate world, not successful in the political world, and doesn’t come across as genuine, at least not to me. Her attempts at ingratiating herself with the GOP elites by attacking Trump are annoying, to say the least.

Everyone who tries to destroy Trump ends up being destroyed.
The “body count” grows daily.
Pass the popcorn. The list of GOP candidates is about to get whittled down.
Just mulling this over, but you know the supposed “gotcha” raise-your-hand question set Trump apart from every other politician immediately. I now think that visual hugely helped him because he stood out, was the only one who looked courageous enough to say, “No, I won’t play the game.” Had Cruz done that too, the whole dynamic would have changed.

Their efforts will backfire big time.
My gut feeling is this will all backfire on the GOPe.
They do not have any real ammunition to fire back at Trump that is valid, that will stick, that the American voter wants to hear.
The only real smart contender in the GOP field is Cruz who is paralleling Trump on the issues. Practically overnight Cruz went from being a nobody to a somebody.
Those that oppose Trump go from being a nobody to a nothing.
Just think of all the GOP resources going to kill it’s own that could be used against obama, Hillary and Sanders. It’s like they want to lose.
The whole dynamic HAS changed.
If Cruz is as smart as I think he is, he knows he doesn't have the populist appeal to go to war with the party. Trump does.
He didn't have to raise his hand because he knew Trump is the guy, and he can get behind him.
The campaigns can't coordinate with the PACs, but the PACs can coordinate with each other. The PACs are the big donors. Trump is from the donor class, not the political class.
If the donors coordinate to attack Trump through their puppet candidates, then Trump should attack the donors, not the candidates, at least indirectly.
Trump's response ads should name the donors who are pulling the candidates' strings and point out that he's not a puppet of anyone else. He should point out that he was a big donor himself and that now is the time for him to step out for himself and not hide behind someone else.
He should close his ad by asking if voters want him or a stranger hiding behind the other candidates?
