Kate Mulgrew has gotten pretty good at throwing it back on Instagram, but her latest post chronicles a pretty epic meeting between herself and, at the time, the First Lady of the United States, Hillary Clinton.

It was the 90s and Kate, who currently plays the power hungry Red on OITNB, was still captaining the cast of Star Trek: Voyager. Along with power publicist Scott Gorenstein, she made it into The White House for an encounter with the woman who may or may not still be eyeing her husband’s old office in the West Wing.

Gorensetin actually shared the photo first, captioning it, “#Repost from @scottgorenstein — Kate and I went to The White House!! #katemulgrew #kate #thewhitehouse #startrekvoyager #captainjaneway #hillary #clinton #hillaryclinton #’90s.”

It seems fitting that the first woman to ever be cast as the captain on a Star Trek spin-off should meet the woman who’s gotten closer than anyone to being the first female President of The United States.

The woman is utterly, utterly clueless.

Getting excited at waving to no one. This is one of the most irritating shticks her and her husband have used over the years. Pretending that every where they go some old friend is in the crowd to show that every where they go there are friends of theirs all over the place. How pathetic.

How cute, Hill. Yes, you may not understand the 1's and 0's, you may not understand operating systems, and you may not be familiar with all the technical jargon. But as a lawyer and someone savvy with criminal aspects of law, you certainly understand "obstructing justice," "destroying evidence," and "redacting content" from a document.

This "random wave to supporters in the wings" must be some poll-tested gimmick that Dems employ. I've seen several of these poses before...it gives the illusion that they 1) know someone and are personally connecting with them; 2) are liked enough to have people come see them and wave to them; and 3) it forces them to show some "action" as they're entering or exiting a stage...maybe it shows energy.

Honestly, they're probably waving to an empty chair.
