Experts on Atomics Rushed to U.S.S.R
This is the first time I have noticed USSR, prior to this it has always been Russia? Why the change?

I wondered about that myself. Maybe it has something to do with the transition from WWII allies to cold war antagonists. I know - that’s a stretch considering the NYT history.
