Go to our “great” colleges and what? Increase the progressive think-tanks? Nope, this one’s not gonna fly.

Trump means people who are here legally on a student visa..

Educated, intelligent people who will contribute...

The kind of people who used to be high up on the preferred list for immigration..

This has nothing to do with DREAMers. The idea of the DREAM Act was to give illegal immigrants a path to citizenship if they went to school, etc.

Trump is talking about legal immigrants here on a Student Visa. For some stupid reason we only allow them to remain in the country for 1-2 years after graduating, and then send them back home to develop their own countries with the expertise gained here. It’s counterproductive. We are training people to compete with us

Do we even have a preferred list for potential immigrants anymore? Or would such preference be considered bigoted somehow???

When I immigrated in 1971, there was a list I was given that had about 10. groups of people in descending order of preference for immigration..

#1 was spouse of American citizen, (there were spouses of military married overseas etc) then it went through ite4ms such as doctors, scientists, other professionals, other categories until it came to the bottom to #10 where everyone else was lumped together.. but all had to be able to work and provide for themselves and not apply for public assistance..

that bottom group had to rely on gaining a quota number which were handed out first come first served..

each country had a determined and limited number of applicants who could immigrate each year and the first numbers went to the people with priority..the 1s, 2s etc..then what was left of the amount of quotas was shared amongst the #10s, the common folk..

some countries such as my New Zealand didn’t use all their quota numbers every year and so it was easier to get one of the coveted “tickets” ...T was able to get a low quota number because one was available..and not wait for years and years..

There was no lottery for the quota numbers in those days and I don’t know who started such an asinine practice..under the system I immigrated with, you had to pass everything and be proven qualified BEFORE a quota number was offered..

without the quota “ticket” I would have been qualified to immigrate but would have had to wait until a year there were some left over after the top tiers had theirs..I would have been at the top of the list of #10s everyone else but not at the top of the line in front of the #1s, 2s, etc..

I think the way it used to be done was about as fair as it could be..But then it meant something...illegal aliens weren’t treated better than immigrants..

College educated immigrants are great!

Love it! This is a perfect definition of the immigrants we want to keep!
