All the lady wanted was some chicken. But in shortage-plagued Venezuela, she waited in line five hours, only to go home empty-handed.

"I got here at 5:30 am and came away with nothing! It is just not fair that you have to work so hard -- and then put up with these lines," said an exasperated Lileana Diaz, a 49-year-old receptionist at a hospital emergency room.

Venezuelans have been enduring shortages of the most basic goods, such as toilet paper, for more than a year.

And yet, Christina Kirchner seems well-fed and is carrying a nice fat wallet. Good to be the queen.

Exactly. They got the dictatorship they voted for.

What's the problem?

As for these professional line standers...won't take long before they figure out they can actually make their 'employer' bid on their own goods.

The fact is the lines are a symptom, not the problem, but it keeps people where the government can control them better.

The shortages are a direct result of their own governments actions and policies.

Common Core questions in Venezuela:

BASIC

1.If the line at the store is 50 m. long and moves at the pace of 0.5 m. a minute, how long will it take for the last person on line to get into the store?

ADVANCED

2.If the official price of diapers is 100 Bolivars and the black market price is 500 Bolivars, and if it takes on average 30 minutes to wait in line to buy diapers at the official price, what is the equilibrium hourly wage rate for line-standers?

City chickens filled the streets in Venezuela three years ago. Wonder if the people have made use of that resource.

I visited Caracas awhile back and I was astounded by the level of poverty a short hour drive from the city. People lived in boxes. The rich ones had crates.

I'm not sure if you are familiar with FerFal (Fernando Ferfal Aguirre). I personally believe we will fall somewhere between his experiences and Selco.

Here are a couple links for FerFal:

Here is one of his postings not covered in his book:

The same factories have the same problem getting materials to make products.

And even when they can get materials, they have another problem. The government often bans prices above the cost of the basic materials to make the finished product, it is tough to stay in business.

So, the question remains, for the product they ARE making, where’s it going?

Is it going to the retail consumers, or is the government glomming it all up?

Civil War immediately erupted when Lincoln was elected as President. If the idiots ever elect Bernie Sanders, we would face a similar choice of that or else become Venezuela. May God spare us.

There are items in the stores, but not enough for the demand.

The answer to the second question depends upon how many diapers you’re allowed to buy.
