The footage, from a CCTV camera, shows a man in a yellow shirt leaving a backpack in the Erawan Hindu shrine.

At least 20 people died in Monday's explosion, including nine foreigners, and more than 120 were injured.

Well, they’re terrorists, definitely, whoever is behind it. But their identity is not entirely clear. The guy doesn’t look Muslim, and in fact looks more like a leftist - he also didn’t blow himself up but just left the backpack to detonate by itself, which would be more typical of a Marxist than a Muslim.

In the photo, he also seems to be wearing bands around his forearms. Does this mean anything in anbody’s religion?

I have photos - that I can never figure out how to post here —that show the bomber is a Westerner (Farang in Thailand) ... The photos are VERY convincing. He is longish somewhat curly brown hair - he is taller than Thai men... the CCTV videos are very good showing him taking off the backpack and then leaving walking around a corner looking at a phone.. He likely detonated the bomb with the cell phone.

There are also photos of the perp in the police department standing and sitting at a desk. This could be an earlier arrest or one for the bombing. I have not narrative at all for any language describing the photos. But again - this guy is a young Westerner ... So sad ... another Liberal mostly likely protesting the Military Junta that now runs the government ...

Thailand has a Moslem Problem in the south.Thailand has a chance now to do what Israel should have done in 1967 or 1972 but didn’t, force all the Moslems across the border into the adjacent Moslem countries. Thailand would then have a much easier time sealing their single Moslem border. It is pretty short.

If he is not an antiwar nihililst then he is probably working for Thailand’s Moslems in the Kra isthmus whoo are about as nasty a bunch of barbarians as any other Moslems in the ME or Chechnaya. They occasionally raid Buddhist villages and kill lone children and monks here and there and maybe plant bombs in the Capital. In the pic he looks like a pretty boy American or English college student type.

I haven't seen the video on the BBC but the version on rt.com is very interesting:

1. It is clear that the video operators are following the suspect in the yellow top after he dropped the bag and before the explosion; the last camera is panned to track him. Either they saw him leave the bag and became suspicious or they were already tracking him;

2. He may have a male accomplice in a red top; the suspect stands close beside this second person who is sitting down; he then occupies the seat when that person gets up and walks away, before ditching the rucksack;

3. There are others sharing the seat who remain seated. After the London and Boston bombings I now always watch people carrying rucksacks. If you ever see someone abandon a bag/rucksuck/package - don't just sit there.
