Trump's position on the NSA metadata collection seems to be in line with Peter King's.

Well, it’s not in line with mine!

This is not a good position to take. I am disappointed with Trump on this one. What is Cruz’s position?

He’s no conservative but I don’t think it matters much anymore. Some kind of insane mania has taken over and many people don’t seem to be able to see reason.

Trump is like the pied piper and so many conservatives seem to be eager to run off the side of the cliff:(

I disagree but fortunately that is something the Congress decides and they just passed legislation stopping the mass data collection of phone records. And you can thank Rand Paul for it. So it does not really matter what Trump thinks about it.

In all honesty there is no candidate that anyone is going to agree with 100%. I’m looking for 80%. I’m about 95% with Trump.

"I think we have to err on the side of security"

I'll go with Mr. Franklin on this one:

"those who would give up essential liberty to purchase a little temporary safety deserve neither liberty nor safety"

But please, please, please, Trump supporters - tell us why this clown deserves the support of any liberty-loving conservative.

There’s no perfect candidate. Being a Cruz supporter you have already forgiven him for hoping in the sack with Paul Amnesty Ryan to enable Obamatrade. With the Iran deal fiasco that move by Cruz is looking worse by the day.

I am conflicted on this. We need security, but we need to find bad guys.

Not sure.

Yeah, I only agree with Trump on about 70% of his positions—and this is one area where we disagree.

But within that 70% are the most critical issues of the day.

Not sure that I’m right but nobody would want to listen to my conversations so I am sure they don’t pay attention to me. But if they have a way of focusing on keywords, or whatever, that would help them zero in on terrorists and their activities then from a practical standpoint I am ok with it.

Bah.
The only question is whether the NSA or the companies collect and keep the data.

So Trump is right.

What acts of terrorism has this data prevented?

Any criminal acts prevented by this data?

Rather than have my government spying on me, I’d sooner support a plan to move entire communities of unassimilated muslims and illegal aliens out of my country.

Just get them out, and don’t bring them back, and no I do not feel guilty about it at all.

NSA was not “listening in” on phone calls. They were just collecting the metadata. Sheesh.

When were these quotes collected? Trump has "evolved" on many issues.

Yep--another peek at the left/authoritarian philosophy in the mind behind the speech. And remember that the New York way with the following is to confiscate and imprison. The I-have-mine folks won't be "all grandfathered in" at all.

Donald Trump on gun control:

http://www.ontheissues.org/donald_trump.htm#Gun_Control
Dems and Reps are both wrong on guns
It’s often argued that the American murder rate is high because guns are more available here than in other countries. Democrats want to confiscate all guns, which is a dumb idea because only the law-abiding citizens would turn in their guns and the bad guys would be the only ones left armed. The Republicans walk the NRA line and refuse even limited restrictions. Source: The America We Deserve, by Donald Trump, p.102 , Jul 2, 2000

For assault weapon ban, waiting period, & background check I generally oppose gun control, but I support the ban on assault weapons and I support a slightly longer waiting period to purchase a gun. With today’s Internet technology we should be able to tell within 72-hours if a potential gun owner has a record. Source: The America We Deserve, by Donald Trump, p.102 , Jul 2, 2000

This 1986 video, obtained from the public domain, shows President Ronald Reagan visiting the NSA, as he gave the official dedication speech for the NSA’s two new buildings and strongly defended the intelligence-gathering agency. He wanted to loosen “the legal reins governing intelligence,” a history of the NSA notes, a view that gave rise to Reagan executive order 12333. It gave the NSA latitude in SIGINT collection that the agency had not had during the disastrous Carter years. This executive order remains in effect.
