Actually Oxy leads many people to use heroin because heroin is much cheaper than oxy. Interesting. I figured that was because the black market price of oxy was higher, but I didn't realize that generic oxycodone was not approved. I was confusing it with generic hydrocodone (Vicodin). The price on regular oxy seems high ($200/month on the internet) and some formularies are pushing patients onto morphine in its place.

Not just narcotics.
There are whole list of pills, OTC allergy tablets, laxatives, anti depressants, otc pain pills, otc antacids and others that are never to be split.
There are several sites where you can check to see if you can split the pills or not.
I am a bit compulsive on reading up on medications I have been given as sometimes taking a broken pill or taking it with the wrong kind of liquid can have serious consequences.
IOW you could have killed yourself.
