First of all, this is a vanity, so there is no editor other than the freeper that wrote it.
Second, before you go off criticizing others, at least make sure that your own missive doesn’t contain multiple same errors that you’re criticizing.
In your little sentence you have two: “sight” should be “site”, and your “site” should be “cite”.
Your sentence should read...
“It used to be that there would be an editor on “site”, and he would “cite” the proper spelling of ‘brakes’ to prevent the columnists from looking like idiots.”
