Many, even on FR, are still picking out splinters caused by jumping from one crashing political bandwagon to another in 2012. Many try to project what they want their desired candidate to be, rather that what the candidate actually is.

I recall in 2008 when many were jumping on the Thompson bandwagon, I spend 5 minutes Googling and discovered that Thompson not only supported McCain's campaign reform, but Thompson actually helped write it. [Part of that legislation was later declared unconstitutional.] Several on FR denied that Thompson had any involvement and claimed it was character assassination -- until Thompson dropped out of the race a few weeks later.
