The author, Lee Kaplan, is confusing stupid with evil. Kayla Mueller was stupid, not evil. To brand that poor, stupid, and confused woman as evil is IMHO, deeply offensive.

But who is willing to listen to criticism, who tries to surround themselves with people more intelligent than themselves, people who will tell them what they don’t know or, frankly, what they don’t particularly relish hearing. For what it's worth, I, for one, am strongly criticizing Kaplan. An idealistic yet ignorant young woman gets murdered by savages. And this Kaplan fellow decides to heap scorn on this victim because she “participated” in some events that he, Kaplan, didn't like.
