Prominent Modesto criminal defense attorney Frank Carson, along with eight others including three California HIghway Patrol Officers were arrested Friday for their suspected involved in the 2012 death of Korey Kauffman. Wow!
There must be more to the story.
Wow - The CHP has some of the best.
I have only gotten about 50 pages into the affidavit, but after about ten you will know what is going on. The defender owned property that he stored collectables. The local cranksters assumed he kept the stuff for them to steel to supply their habits. The defender decided to take matters into his own hands. At least, that is one side of the story, seems like there might have been some history between the defender and the local police as well.
"A 326-page arrest affidavit details an alleged conspiracy, with Carson identified as its ringleader. The defense attorney, who last year ran for district attorney, is described as a vengeful property owner seeking to send a message against people allegedly stealing scrap metal and antiques from his property in Turlock."
Maybe he figured that once he was DA, he could just make it all go away.
Steel? Steal?
This is a pretty big conspiracy to kill one thieving guy. And I don’t really care if he stole the Hope diamond, the penalty for that isn’t death.
I’m a little surprised they didn’t do a MUCH BETTER job of getting rid of the body. I know that killing someone is relatively easy, it’s getting rid of the body that’s a pain, but with 3 cops and an experienced criminal atty on the job it’s hard to imagine how they messed that part up.
Because if the body had never been round, who’s to say that the guy was murdered? Maybe he just wandered off. That does happen, esp. with kind of low life people.
Maybe this can be the basis for next season’s True Detective.
My condolences to the murdered man’s family and I hope Justice will be served. My condolences also to any clients this atty had, they are kind of up the creek right now.
Hard to believe that many people would get involved in the murder of a scrape metal thief when it's not even their scrapes
It’s got all the ingredients, corrupt attorneys, their wives, business owners, corrupt local cops.
9 people can keep your secret, as long as 7 of them are dead.
Sounds like half the town was in on it.
The decedent’s father, speaking about his son: “He was a good kid with a good heart ...” left out the part about him stealing for a living.
The murder victim's Dad was old school and while going through this massive murder investigation, used to go speak to the CHP who lived next door for basic advise about it.
That same CHP neighbor was one of those arrested for his son's murder.
After this season’s “True Detective,” I hope there isn’t another season.
“And I dont really care if he stole the Hope diamond, the penalty for that isnt death.”
I simply know that you aren’t referring to anything of value that I own.
You see, everything that I own has my blood, sweat and tears on it. If anyone tries to steal anything.....anything at all from me and I see them doing it then they can expect to die by my hand.
If the evidence is true, the attorney murderer must have thought the same thing as you. Btw, the theft occurred long before these 9 suspects accused of murder and murder conspiracy, murdered the victim.
This is not the same as a burglary or theft in progress. The theft was long over at the time of the murder.
You kill someone in a scenario like this, you’ll spend the rest of your life in the joint. Or worse.
“You kill someone in a scenario like this, youll spend the rest of your life in the joint. Or worse.”
I did say, “and I see them doing it then they can expect to die by my hand.” ;-)
I am in Texas. It would be legal for me to kill the thief.
