His real crime was probably not donating to the Democrats.
People do not get it. They can take whatever they want whenever they want. House, money, freedom, life. Buy ammo, it will get worse.
The lesson here is that when you get paid in cash don’t deposit it to a bank.
The so-called punishment for this “crime” is quite excessive, don’tcha think???
This is where our politicians are at war with us. - to plunder and steal from hard working citizens.
I would think a simple $1000 fine and making them fill out their “paperwork” would suit the infraction. Not this.
This all goes back to the war on drugs. Controlling the border is more effective than controlling legitimate financial transactions. Add this story to the list of reasons why the IRS should be shuttered.
He settled with the feds, and now is trying to re-trade the deal by bringing political pressure. So he’s established that his word is no good. Has the statute of limitations run on his criminal conduct?
Saw the news report on this last night.
Why not use more than one bank anyway? You’ll draw less attention when you take cash out as well.
Buy ammo, it will get worse.
The liberals, progressives, democrats, rinos are known by many names but their Fascists.. ALL..
They will release POWER out of ...ONLY... their cold dead hands.. you’re right..
They will not go with a whimper.. and a Curly Salute..
Molon Labe.. It’s almost time for BEHEADINGS...
Less would be encouraging more of this...
PUBLIC on every channel.. and the internet.. BEHEADINGS..
A WARNING to closet Fascists and even Socialists..
And the Constitution must be changed to make Socialism in all it’s forms ILLEGAL..
SO much for Social Security (in it’s present form)...
AND most of what the federal gov’t does...
The federal gov’t NEEDS to become a Vassal of the States like intended..
Instead of the States Vassals of the federal gov’t.. like NOW...
The democrat party needs to be taken apart like the Trojan Horse it really is..
AND thrown outside the Ship of State..
AND RINOs *WARNED*... we are coming for YOU NEXT..
-OR- pack up your shit and git.. (to urp or somewhere)..
No, he was robbed at gunpoint and is now trying to get the police involved to regain his losses.
Signing a deal with a gun to one's head isn't generally considered binding.
Although it may not have been a literal gun in this case, having the full weight of the government come down on you if you don't sign is a way for the government to steal a person's money and make a "deal" to keep part of what they stole.
I find it odd that you take the government's side in this. Seizing money from people because they kept the deposits below $10,000 a pop and without any evidence of criminal intent should signal government malfeasance in a conservative mind.
The thieves need a swift and just sentence!
Did they mention that they encourage the banks to report these NORMAL transactions?
You’re rather strict.
He did nothing wrong, was threatened with jail and a half-million dollar fine. He HAD to settle. But it’s OK with me to appeal and reshuffle the deck when you’ve been so callously and asymmetrically wrong.
He didn’t willingly give his word—he was forced at the point of a legal gun.
If you are innocent, you can bring an action to get the money back. Unfortunately for this guy, he wasn't innocent.
His better cause of action would be against the bank, if the bank employee was the one who told him to do this. There's a fairly good chance it was the bank that turned him in. ($!0,000 used to be, but no longer is, a magic number.) Penalties are pretty high for banks that don't turn in their customers.
His lawyer gave him pretty good advice to settle, based upon the limited information provided. Settling with your fingers crossed, on the other hand, shows a lack of integrity (again, based upon the limited information here).
I can understand those with libertarian tendencies being against the War On Drugs specifically, and money laundering laws generally, but one violates the laws, just or unjust, at their own risk. I do have little sympathy for those who complain about being held responsible for their voluntary acts.
No. That is not a correct statement, as it stands. He could have resisted. He could have let things get to the point where they took everything and he was thrown in jail. He could have died in a shootout. Technically, he did not "have to" roll on his back like a supine catamite and settle.
Somewhere somehow it is going to get to that point. Most American's would rather just roll on their back.
I hear you, and I understand your strong sense of honor.
However, I think that a little strategic dishonesty does not compromise the man’s honor, since the government exhibited none in dealing with him. He lived to fight another day.
It’s hard to recommend to someone else that he decide his back is to the wall, when maybe he still has some options, even if they are somewhat distasteful.
I live in the GA 10th district and I have already served notice to my congresscritter Jody Hice.
I sent him some tissues and a US Postal Service change of address form and told him to fill it out because he is not going to be in DC for long.
HEY JODY! Come to Dacula and let me have a few words with you!

I’m just glad it wasn’t me.
