No. That is not a correct statement, as it stands. He could have resisted. He could have let things get to the point where they took everything and he was thrown in jail. He could have died in a shootout. Technically, he did not "have to" roll on his back like a supine catamite and settle.
Somewhere somehow it is going to get to that point. Most American's would rather just roll on their back.
I hear you, and I understand your strong sense of honor.
However, I think that a little strategic dishonesty does not compromise the man’s honor, since the government exhibited none in dealing with him. He lived to fight another day.
It’s hard to recommend to someone else that he decide his back is to the wall, when maybe he still has some options, even if they are somewhat distasteful.
