WACO (August 13, 2015) Judge Walter H. "Pete" Peterson on Thursday released final autopsy reports in connection with the nine motorcycle riders who died on May 17 in the Twin Peaks biker gang shootout.

The preliminary autopsy reports released months ago confirmed all nine died of gunshot wounds and the final reports supported those conclusions but provided much more detail about those wounds and other issues discovered in the autopsies.

Jesus Delgado Rodriguez, 65, died of gunshot wounds from a medium-caliber weapon that fired a copper-jacketed bullet, the final autopsy report says.

One of the bullets entered the left side of his face, the other entered the right side of his back.

“The forensic evidence says that none of them were shot at close range. I’m just reading the report is all. “

Actually, what is rules out is ranges within 3 feet.

“No GSR on any of the people in a crowd where the police said there was a mass shooting?”

Not what was said. These were autopsies only on the dead.

What is ruled out was shootings within THREE feet.

Of course also, in the cases where bullets or fragments were recovered, the authorities know what bullet that was. Some of the small fragments might elude identification, but if the bullet is simply deformed, they have the answer.

That information should be public and should have already been provided to defense attorneys. Why has this not happened is the question.

Looks like they got at least one of the Bandidos. Videos going to be interesting.

“Matthew Mark Smith

Smith, 27, of Keller, had two gunshot wounds — one to his upper back and one to his abdomen. The bullet in his back was described as a “medium-caliber jacketed projectile.” The bullet through his abdomen hit his right kidney and aorta before exiting.

Smith had tattoos of birds on his chest and one of the word “Devotion” on his left wrist, the document says. He was wearing gray jeans, a black vest and a blue cap at the time of the shooting. Smith’s blood tested positive for marijuana.

Vehicle forfeiture documents state that when officers approached the restaurant during the shootout, a Waco police officer saw Jeff Battey and Ray Allen standing behind Twin Peaks “in a triangulated position” to Smith, who was lying on the ground about five yards away and was “gasping for air.” Both Battey and Allen were wearing Bandidos vests.

An officer noticed that Allen had a silver handgun in his hand and said it looked like Battey had been shot in his upper right shoulder, according to the documents.

Battey was arrested upon his release from the hospital the next day. He was the first of the 177 arrested bikers to be released after he posted the full $1 million bond.”

“More importantly, what does the ME consider to be a “medium caliber”?’

I ran across one guide that listed:

.22 SMALL
.38 MEDIUM
.45 LARGE

5.56mm is a 0.224” (caliber) bullet. Gee almost a 1/4” of an inch. 9mm is 0.355”.

Medium is one that gets you a ticket home and not to the amputation line.

A 25 would be an interesting side note to this story. Hard to find gun. Hard to find ammo for it. 380 mouse guns are very popular as a BU weapon around here.

“Nothing like a good back-shooting.”

BOTH ‘back-shots’ were MEDIUM caliber ... NOT the cops shooting.

MeganC: No GSR on any of the people in a crowd where the police said there was a mass shooting?

You: +1

-1 for you.

These were autopsies ONLY on the dead. I guess the dead never had a chance to fire.

“Medium, 5.56, 7.62, What is milspec medium?”

In the medical world when doing autopsies they state that .22 is small and .38 is medium and .45 is large.

“But still no ballistics? I don’t find these reports very helpful without specific ballistics...”

Correction.

Small Caliber: 2
Medium Caliber: 6
Medium/Large: 1

Get back to me when you get a body with a hole “about 1/4’” made with a 38.

“Get back to me when you get a body with a hole “about 1/4’” made with a 38.”

Done. C. Russell. Entry diameter 1/4”, Medium caliber bullet recovered.

“When a bullet hits the skin surface, it causes indentation before perforation. Following perforation, elasticity causes the skin to recoil, and the resulting round, circular defect is of a slightly smaller diameter to that of the bullet.”

“Get back to me when you get a body with a hole “about 1/4’” made with a 38.”

” Given the elasticity of skin, often times the entry wound is considerably smaller than the diameter of the bullet. “

If the video made the police look good they’d have released it almost immediately. The only time the police keep a secret about a big bust is when they’ve done something wrong.

So you are arguing that 0.250 is “slightly” smaller than 0.357”? A full 0.107” of an inch or 43% of the diameter of a 38 special?

Before you answer I will tell you that I have cataloged 1,000’s of bullets holes in skin, tissue and bone with virtually every caliber common in the US. So if you really want to play then go ahead and justify(try and) your contention noted above.

“If the video made the police look good they’d have released it almost immediately. “

Before, it was; “If the autopsies made the police look good they’d have released them earlier.”

Now we see that the autopsies make the police look good. The videos may also do that.
