ORLANDO (CBS Tampa) The Orlando International Airport will soon be opening a Muslim prayer room.
WKMG-TV reports the airport will spend $250,000 to build the Reflection Room where Muslims can pray. The airport decided to build the room after Emirates Airlines announced it will make non-stop flights from Orlando to Dubai.
These rooms provide travelers an opportunity to pray in their own way and have peace before they take on a long flight, Imam Muhammad Musri, president of the Islamic Society of Central Florida, told My News 13.
Many Muslims currently pray in public, and even the bathrooms, at the Orlando airport. Carolyn Fennell, director of public affairs at the airport, says the Reflective Room will give them a much more suitable place to pray.
So they arent having to, if it is the case, kneel on bathroom floors or in corners so they have the reflective time, she told My News 13.
The Reflection Room is scheduled to be open by Sept. 1.
And the post-9/11 Stockholm Syndrome continues.
Is that right next to the Catholic chapel which is adjacent to the Jewish mini synagogue, which abuts the protestant chapel???

“Currently at OIA, many Muslims pray in public or even in restrooms. There is also a non-denomination chapel where prayer rugs are available.”
There is already a non-denominational chapel for people to pray.
The Muslims apparently don’t have to use the non-denominational room that everyone else uses.
They get their own room.
Last time I was there I spent all my time between flights searching for the Christian Reflective Room but no one seemed to know where it was located.
Burn it.
They need it.
iTS SHARIA LAW COME TO AMERICA!
yEAH, ITS DISRUPTIVE TO ME!
This is just where they worship. If this were some kind of courtroom, I too would be alarmed. I don’t know if the Airport has any other choice. Let’s hope the Wiccan’s or those involved in Santeria will not be closely following. I think the Scientologists also have their own Meditation Room, and have for a long time.
I understand you would be concerned about them using this place of worship to preach hate against the west, and to do so under the heavy cloak of their own Arabic language, one that is unknown to most Americans.
If someone is kneeling in a bathroom, it sure isn’t to pray!
Great places to pee, don't even have to stand up before those urinal thingies...
Feelings,
Wo-o-o feelings
Wo-o-o feelings
Again in my heart
LOL!
They can wash thier feet in the urinal for all I care
buy some food, walk into this prayer room, sit down and leave the pork. Get up and leave.
“There is a chapel in the airport already.”
You are correct. There are chapels in airports across the U.S.
However, they are never dedicated to a specific religion.
Having been in dozens of airports, the only religious rooms or “airport chapels” are never designated to any specific religion.
They are purposely ecumenical, in order not to offend anyone.
Even while the same ecumenical “prayer rooms” and “chapels”, which have attempted to serve all “faiths” have long been offensive to true message of the cross.
An Islamic prayer room in such an important public transportation facility will be a first.
Already, every time we bend over further to placate or compromise with islam, we loose American soldiers and lives, as well as, more of our own freedom to our own authorities.
Seems to work out quite well for a government with an ever increasing thirst for control of society, doesn’t it?
Isn’t it ironic, that we are the ones who have been forced to give up our privacy, to be searched from head to toe in airports and other important locations, while the muslims who are at the root of almost every attack in the past few decades must be searched in such a way as to not offend them.
Maybe it just buys a hole in the floor
I hope so.
Which airports? I have never seen one. Atlanta has a smoking room, though.
I’m pretty sure the San Francisco Airport has a Christian Science Reading Room, or did at one time. Same with the Detroit Michigan Airport. Little sofa rooms that are usually empty.
