Footage circulating online appears to show a massive explosion in the northern Chinese city of Tianjin, the cause of which is not yet known. The explosion reportedly occurred at the Tianjin Binhai New Development Zone at about 23:30 (15:30 GMT). Pictures and video footage shared on social media suggest a number of people were wounded by the blast. Several nearby tower blocks are without power, according to the Chine

I think it is possible that it was."
Aftermath of Hiroshima bomb:
Yikes, that appears to be far away from the explosion and those cars are covered with ash.

In one spot and not along a fault, the videos are impressive. CCTV has a collection of people’s videos. One guy caught the pair out his window and the shock wave threw him across the room and I’d estimate he was at least two kilometers from the blast site.
Not surprised....
Was this a “ghost” city?
Absolutely. What’s just jaw-dropping is how huge a debris field these explosions created. The power is staggering.

Upper Benhai district.
The coastal cities are all like that. China's middle class is bigger than the total US population. I was in Guangzhou a month ago and the city center is more modern and functional than any crumbling, Democrat-ruled US metropolis.
But of course, China still has a billion people in the rural areas walking behind a plow every day...
It shows up on a seismograph too, they can use Japan’s seismograph network to estimate what the TNT equivalent was. They are probably working on that right now and rearranging satellite passes over it. That is just what CNN is doing, not to mention what Nation States are doing.
The videos with sound are stunning in showing the reality of the blast.....as I posted photos I’d find news bites along the way...but it was when one reporter mentioned the bodies and body parts strewn through the city that the real gravity of this situation got me...I had to pull away a bit.
the second blast was equal to 21 tons of TNT and the most of the two that registers high.....it’s backthread....

what are they reporting as the strength? A good geologist can make the calculations as we have plenty of data on thing like this.
operational screwups and poor construction?
It was so bad because their buildings were basically paper. Notice any stone building is still standing.
Also, unlike Hiroshima, this was not an air burst. It was a ground burst.
Commie state news agency claims it was a container of explosives which had been shipped to their port by an explosives supply firm. Some reports say the container was in a warehouse at the port when it detonated.
Hard to believe they’d keep material like this in such a big urban area.
Some reports say everyone affiliated with the shipper are being located and held in custody.
Intentional sabotage? Negligence? We’ll probably never know the truth.
