MARK CUBAN: I want to be a Republican — but the party has one big problem
The Business Insider ^ | 8/12 | Colin Campbell

Posted on 08/12/2015 8:13:11 AM PDT by TangledUpInBlue

In a Tuesday post on his Cyber Dust social media app, the outspoken billionaire investor wrote that he would prefer to join the GOP but has an issue with the party's push for conformity.

"Put aside that I disagree with Republicans on most social issues. The Republicans have a much bigger problem that will crush them in every Presidential election until this changes."

Cuban lamented that those who disagree with the "Consensus" are labeled as fake Republicans.

"The Republican Party requires that all their Presidential candidates Conform to Consensus. If you don't agree with every platform of the party not only are you called a RINO, a 'Republican in Name Only.' You are considered unelectable in primaries and become a source of scorn on Fox News. That's a problem," he said.

Try to get elected as a D opposing abortion, higher taxes, school choice, and a dozen other issues that are CONSENSUS to the D’s.

He’s full of sh!t.

Exactly. The litmus test is far more severe for the donks. The “conservative” Dems all moved into the GOP tent a generation ago.

The social issues embarrass him, huh?

Those social issues are part and parcel of our fundamental liberties.

Yeah, "Life" in the Life, Liberty and Pursuit of Happiness contain all of the "social issues" pertaining to our lives. They are inalienable liberties meaning that not even Mark Cuban has the right to disregard them.

Ya can't disengage Life from our fundamental liberties and think that the rest of them will not receive a injury.

When one is injured, they all suffer.

Who does Cuban think he is?

Mark Cuban is stupid. It is the democrats and their political correctness that enforces all members to conform. If you do not they have thugs show up in your city.
John Boehner and Mitch McConnell are democrats and they are trying to do what the democrats insist on.

This guy apparently wants to run for president, but can’t really do so flying his own colors because they are unpopular.

Consensus. That’s what the last 60 years has done to our nation.

He thinks you have to agree on all things or your a RINO….then were all RINOS I do not agree on all things just the major two or three…I think of rinos as people who pretend to be conservative and then become moderates or worse…hell how can you tell the difference between the DEMS and the GOP now…

Is Cuban really that obtuse. For example at the debates last week the GOP had two stages with candidates who have a variety of views on abortion, gay marriage etc. The Dims are the ones who enforce conformity on their candidates.

Which of the Republican nominees have done this?

Social liberalism creates the environment that necessitates big government. Social Liberalism cannot coexist with Fiscal Conservatism.

Exactly!

Hey Mark if you worry about groupthink and consensus you must really despise the 4 Liberals/Democrats on the Supreme Court. They vote without hesitation the same exact way most of the time.

You are considered unelectable in primaries

Then how did Romney get the nomination?

Not sure what this is about. There is nothing here that says this man is a Republican. Certainly not a Conservative and we have enough Republican lites as it is. That is why we lose Presidential elections to otherwise light weights like Obama...........

If it’s all about low taxes, who’s to say low taxes are a fundamental good? Redistribution could work if reality is a Hegelian dialectic. If low taxes speaks to a foundational issue, there are probably more than one or two issues that are also foundational. If Cuban wants to say Sodo-marriage is a fundamental good, he has his work cut out for him. If he wants to say it doesn’t matter, well he’s in good company with Marx, Engels, Hegel, and the Post-modernists. He isn’t a conservative though. If the Republicans are not conservatives, then they’re just self-serving aristocrats dictating laws based on their personal preference and potential gain.

He's right. This country needs a leader not someone who recites dogma. That is true of anyone spanning the political spectrum.

Leadership creates followship. That was President Reagan's secret.
