It would be significant if Perot voters were the subject.

Akin was too ideological to conclude a significant number of his voters were just being stupidly anti-establishment.

What’s it like? I mean, going through life, and either not being able to grasp the point? Or maybe always pretending you don’t get it to prop up your earlier bullshit argument?

But yes, there’s a good Perot analogy too......but that was 23 years ago (and 19 years ago, but not nearly to the extent).

“The “legitimate rape” comment was tame compared to feminist comments like all sex is rape of women.”

Democrat candidates aren’t stupid enough to make those comments themselves though, because they know they are poison during an election. Which means Democrat candidates were sharper than Akin, sadly.

It’s better than calling other people stupid so I feel better about myself.

“But meanwhile he’s a useful tool for us. As Akin was for Claire.”

Not seeing how that is supposed to work. Trump sucks all the air out of the campaigns of actual electable conservatives until it’s too late for them to win enough primaries to stop Jeb... that helps us how?

He’s not at this point.

He drew tens of millions of extra viewers to the debat where they saw the conservative candidates unfiltered by the media.
Giving them MORE exposure than they would have had, not less.
And he keeps Bush from sitting on the lead, which helps us too.

In a few months that dynamic may change. Meanwhile he’s a ‘plus’ for us.

Democrat candidates aren’t stupid enough to make those comments themselves though...

Democrat candidates aren't asked those questions, because the MSM knows that they are landmines and reserves them for Republicans.

The MSM protects Democrats from these kinds of questions.

I call people stupid not because I feel better ....but because it’s the truth. My only tattoo is TRUtH - small, on my right arm. It’s what animates me, drives me, interests me.

You ought to try it sometime.

You were not wrong cripplecreek.

McCaskill was a very unpopular senator and she got lucky in a backwards manner because she picked the most conservative opponent in the mistaken belief that his conservatism would bring him down.

What she did not count on, and what was an incredible stroke of good fortune for her, was that Karl Rove would jump on a simple inarticulate statement by Todd Akin, and throw him under the bus for it. All because Todd had the temerity to defeat his oh so precious “electable” candidate in the primary.

Todd was leading McCaskill in the polls until Rove opened his fat mouth and said he would pull his money from Todd. He all but said aloud he was supporting McCaskill. From that point forward, Todd fell behind in the polls. All this in a state that, other than for Rove’s GOPe backstabbing, underhanded, corrupt shenanigans, would have been a landslide for Todd.

We have seen the same GOPe dirty tricks against Christine McDonnell, Sharon Angle, Chris McDaniel, Sarah, Joe Miller, Richard Mourdock, and now Ted Cruz and Donald Trump.

We are not going to have a conservative country until first have a conservative party. It is high time we set our sights on destroying the, corrupt, rotten-to-the-core GOPe.

So what? That’s the situation we are in and it’s been that way for decades. If candidates don’t know that going in and prepare themselves, they have no business running.

Still, Democrats circle the wagon and defend their own. Republicans run away at the first sign of trouble. I still say that despite the comments, we could have fought it back and ousted McCaskill if only McConnell would have shown some determination.

Yes, the Democrats circle the wagons to defend their own. The Republicans no only do not do that, but the GOPe actually sabotages their own like they did here with Todd Akin.

The GOPe is now in the process of doing this to Ted Cruz.

They could have gotten behind Christine O'Donnell and worked harder for Sharron Angle, too, but they didn't.

I didn’t “favor” Akin, I viscerally disliked the establishment’s and FR’s treatment of “one of their own”. He wasn’t bad on the issues, pretty good conservative values and all.

Sure, he made a mistake in going down the rabbit hole, but I still believe to this day that mistake could have been overcome if the GOP had rallied to his support.

And instead, history repeats...a vile effigy of a woman sits in what was once his seat...thanks to the GOP-e and cowards.

So are most Freepers, but it doesn't make them Senate material. Akin was not, and never will be, and never has been, Senate material. He should've stayed as easy re elect Congressman in that tiny back water district he was from...and let one of two great candidates beat Claire.

Probably, but so what?

He was abandoned and then used as a parlor trick by a disgusting female in her quest to win and we’re supposed to celebrate this?

I’m supposed to feel some kind of shame or remorse for vilifying the establishment for their behavior?

No, you should feel shame for A: not realizing that Akin WAS establishment, even if they dumped him after his comments and B: not realizing he was an idiot and a dupe and C: not realizing he was planted by Claire McCaskill herself and D: not realizing Tea Party had never been spoken by Akin until the kerfuffle of the primary. Now If I had fallen for any of that crap, I'd be damned embarrassed.

Yes, but Todd won the primary.and he was the GOP nominee.

Blame this loss squarely and fully on Karl Rove. Todd would have won had not Rove decided to sabotage him...just like the GOPe is preparing to do with Ted Cruz now.
