Hewitt, a nationally syndicated radio host through Salem Communications, will, along with CNNs Jake Tapper, moderate the next GOP debate on Sept. 16 at the Reagan Library in Simi Valley, California. Salem Communications is the same company that owns Red Statewhose founder Erick Erickson, a Fox News contributor, chose not to invite Dr. Ben Carson to his gathering of GOP candidates and activists this past weekend in Atlanta and disinvited Trump.
This weekend on Meet The Press in an exchange with host Chuck Todd, Hewitt admitted he doesnt think Trump can be president of the United States.
Hugh Hewitt, let me start with you, Todd asked Hewitt. Does Donald Trump have the temperament to be president?
No, no he doesnt, Hewitt replied. A disappointing part of this debate is it was a 9-10 debate in a 9-11 world. We have the Iran deal coming up, the most consequential deal facing probably the next 30 to 40 years in the world. It got very little attention. The Russian cyber attack on the Pentagon got very little attention.
Is that the candidates fault or the organizers fault? Todd interjected.
Well, its both, Hewitt said before blaming Trump for Fox News mistakes. Donald stepped on a lot of important stories. The New York Times has a story on Hillary Clintons server. Only Scott Walker brought up Hillary Clintons server. So I thought what he did to build the audience, it was enormous, at the same time I wanted a different issue set talked about so the Republican primary voter lost.
A moment later, Hewitt predicted that Trumps overwhelming support among Republicans wont last.
It wont last, I dont think it will last, Im skeptical of it lasting, Hewitt said.

It won’t last, it won’t last. When are these RINO pundits going to get a new line? I’m really disappointed in Hugh Hewitt. He better not let his personal feelings get in the way of being a moderator.
the power brokers think they can choose. not this time. mr T has too much fame moey and b***S
Disqualified himself to be moderator.
Plenty of time to find a replacement.

Ask him why Pamela Geller caused the terrorism in Garland.
Ask him if he is still proud he voted for Hillary for Senate.
Ask him his opinions about the horrible effects of pornography on the culture and on children.
Ask him why he thinks the Kelo decision is good.
Ask him what the “good things” Planned Parenthood does are.
Trump is the only candidate resonating with the American people, against the GOPe. Coincidence?
Looks like there should be an opening for a new debate moderator.
Trump complained that he was not asked the substantial questions about policy like the other candidates. That’s what got him upset about the lack of fairness in the debate.
He won’t recuse himself. Trump should tell him he’s fired.
Hugh is establishment. If Trump was mad a Kelly, he might just run over to Hugh during the debate and strangle him. Hugh is the most combative little punk in conservative media. He doesn’t have the temperament to be a moderator.
If you mean Obama you are incorrect. I’ve been listening to Hewitt for years and the last thing he wanted in 2008 was the election of Obama.
Hugh is boring.
No bias here. Move on.
Hugh!
Hugh!
Please ask Trump if he's in any way or at all "dirty"!
(He is a wheeler-dealer and a New Yorkian who (one suspects) has had need to "persuade" politicians and union bosses, is he not?)
