Meanwhile, for around $100 a month pay TV is not only pummeling you with about 20 minutes of ads an hour, but forcing you to pay for a ton of networks you hate. Moreover, many of these networks get a chunk of your cable bill. Even if you dont watch left-wing CNN and MSNBC, if they are on your package, chances are a part of your bill is going directly to both.
If you want to put CNN, MSNBC, MTV, and all these other low-rated, left-wing networks out of business, not watching them makes absolutely no difference.
You have to cut the cord.
Nearly half of CNNs revenue comes from this immoral revenue stream. CNN is taking your money to attack you all day every day.
And that is the great con the gigantic left-wing multinationals have pulled off for decades. Something like 100 million homes keep hundreds of networks profitable by forcing those customers into overpriced cable packages. Maybe 15 cable networks could survive solely on ad revenue generated by actual eyeballs. The rest would go poof, and good riddance.
SNIP
The death of the pay TV cable bundle is the healthiest thing that could ever happen to your pocketbook or our culture.
Cut the cord.
For America.

Did it July 1st.
Everyone watches TV far less and they are absolutely in love with older era shows we pick up on HD antenna.
There are a lot of new over-the-air options that are free. Mostly older rerun networks that most of us would appreciate anyway (MeTV, Antenna TV, etc.)
Only downside is that the FCC has scheduled an auction for next year where TV broadcast license holders can put their spectrum up for bids to cell phone carriers. Some of these stations are only remaining on the air to secure their rights to their channel until they can sell it off to the highest bidder. OTA TV channels may start dropping like flies in 2 to 3 years.
The biggest thing keeping me from cutting cable service is I watch a lot of sports & like to flip back & forth between games (and I don’t like to steal).
Vipbox for sports is free; try it. College football, NFL, NBA, MLB. You aren’t stealing anything.
We have been cable free for over a year. We watch Netflix, Huluplus, and amazon prime on our roku.
Question for you bkopto, I am using verizon fios, but my internet is at least 3x what you are paying. Does your system run netflix and such on your tv ok?
Kobi app on a Amazon Fire box, look into it for cord cutting.
Cord cutting is fine. Cable is fine for some.
Can I cut the cable ...Comcastic...and still get LIVE harness racing from the local track?
No.
Can I get the Pennsylvania Cable Network that features tours of state factories, landmarks, and does a wonderful job with the State Farm Show in January and things like state sports coverage and legislative coverage?
No.
All those wonderful apps like on Roku and smart appliances promise being able to watch news and sports but in most cases it is delayed, segments or a PPV.
I want to see live coverage of events.
Can I port my DVR to other devices?
Possibly but on my cable provider I can now do that sometimes by voice control.
So far there is almost NOTHING I have found on Netflix or Amazon Prime that will stream. I have to wait for the DVD.
Bottom line I AM NOT thrilled with cable especially the now $180/month bill BUT mrs p6 and I do not go out much. It is a decent entertainment expense for us considering our costs of transportation.
I just went to the website and they want a credit card?
I have tv now for sports, faith channels, (EWTN), and Animal Planet. The news channels are not what they used to be.
I am looking at with interest in Frontier.
I ditched cable TV last year and don’t really miss it. I have a Roku box. They carry more and more channels, including One America News (OAN).
Does Vipbox have irritating pop ups full of malware like firstrowsports.eu has?
I just went to VIPbox.tv on my phone and got bombarded with Spam.
No thanks. Maybe at when legit companies see the value in alternative media I’ll ditch my cable.
That doesn't work so well if I'm watching multiple games.
You arent stealing anything.
Well, maybe I'm technically not. But Vipbox is. Or at least the sites it links to.
As if cell phones do not have enough “spectrum”.
I have the 30 mbps package from Frontier (their lowest packagae) and it gets all our streamed programming great. We use Amazon and Apple TV and the kids use alot of youtube. No problems for us, in this regard.
If I want faster internet, there is a 60 mbps package, but I forget the monthly price for it.
What about satilite tv, is that what will take the place of cable?
I bought Roku for 50 bucks. Biggest waste of money...ever. I can watch movies, with commercials. Or...I can pay to play the movies without commercials.
Vipbox has a lot of popups if your browser is not configured correctly. I use flash and popup blockers and I know how to get what I want from it, without much trouble. You have to do some experimenting though. I use Mac, so the malware issue is not so much for me.
