The part of his proposal that the anti-gunners wouldn’t like is that some people might still be allowed to own guns.

If you have committed an aggravated felony you can’t have a gun. If you have mental health issues you get a hearing to determine your status. If you don’t fall into those categories, you can’t be denied a gun.

Pray tell, where in "shall not be infringed" are these specifications presented? If you can't be trusted with arms, you should not be running around loose.

And of course those hearings will be used against political opposition, and in favor of political backers.

National Firearms Registry didn’t work in Canada, a country where people actually like that kind of thing.

There is no such thing as gun control.

Of course there is, proper grip, careful aim and practice. All else is gun confiscation and trampling of 2nd Amendment rights.

I suggested a litmus test: accept his proposal, if - because only those carrying are now unquestionably legal in his proposal - eliminating NFA and 922(o) and all open-carry prohibitions (OC of G18 and M4 should be legal). Post was deleted.

Agreed. Given the extent to which careless words can lead to violence and hurt feelings, I’d even expand it to other areas:

There needs to be a Federal database of all verbal and printed speech and speakers. 7-day waiting period before words are spoken in public and background checks on every published article. Elimination of unregulated speaking/writing/reading events. Every word printed or spoken needs to be in the Federal registry.

There should be a set standard for speech. Currently, it is left in the discretion of local authorities who sometimes error incorrectly either way. If you have committed an aggravated felony you can’t speak or print in public. If you have mental health issues you get a hearing to determine your status. If you don’t fall into those categories, you can’t be denied speaking rights after the 7-day waiting period.

Let’s do as the North Koreans do. Currently, over in the NK, most public venues have careful monitoring of all words. That needs to be effectuated on any public place where there are crowds. In North Korea, you can’t enter a movie theater, bar, mall, etc., without being monitored by uniformed and plainclothes officials.

Most offensive words are written/spoken by repeat offenders. There needs to be mandatory minimum jail sentences for any crime committed with words. Offend someone while speaking and get 10 years in prison – do it again, get 20 years. We need to let the bad guys know, thought crime gets you real time.

There needs to be a Federal database of all guns and gun owners.

NO

I WILL NOT COMPLY.

7-day waiting period before a gun is purchased and background checks on every purchase

NO

Background checks and waiting periods are NOT obeyed by criminals. The NICS check should be repealed, but we certainly don't want MORE onerous infringements of the sacred right to self-defense. Waiting periods are evil, and prevent people from defending themselves.

Elimination of unregulated gun selling / trading events.

NO

The Founders meant us to be free from government oppression, and for us to have the means. If we can't buy weapons except through government-approved orifices, then we cannot be free from such oppression, can we?

Every gun sold needs to be in the Federal registry.

NO

I WILL NOT COMPLY.

If you have committed an aggravated felony you can’t have a gun.

NO

ANY felony. THIS HAS BEEN LAW SINCE 1968. Please learn the law before you open your piehole. Also, the Founders meant for the states, not the Federal government, to prosecute crimes, but we lost that argument long ago.

Most gun crimes are committed by repeat offenders

Then keep them locked up!

So, mostly,

NO

Your move, gun-grabbers.

The data base is the first step to a police state. And no government, especially ours, deserves a monopoly on lethal force.
