Fox News chairman Roger Ailes may want to smooth things over with Donald Trump, but that doesn't mean he's going to give in to all of Trump's demands. On Monday's Morning Joe, Trump refused to apologize for saying Megyn Kelly had "blood coming out of her wherever" during Thursday night's debate. "She should really be apologizing to me, to tell the truth," Trump said.
Tonight Kelly opened her show by briefly explaining why that won't be happening. "Apparently Mr. Trump thought the question I asked [about his comments on women] was unfair and felt I was attacking him," she said. "I felt he was asked a tough but fair question. We agree to disagree." Kelly added, "I certainly will not apologize for doing good journalism, so I’ll continue doing my job without fear or favor."
While Trump had reportedly declared he'd never appear on Fox News again, he tweeted that Ailes has assured him he'll be treated fairly, and he's now scheduled to appear on Fox & Friends and Hannity on Tuesday. But on Monday night, Trump went out of his way to mock the network's programming, and finally gave Rand Paul the fight he's been looking for. Here's everything he tweeted while watching Eric Bolling interview the senator while filling in on The O'Reilly Factor:
Truly weird Senator Rand Paul of Kentucky reminds me of a spoiled brat without a properly functioning brain. He was terrible at DEBATE!— Donald J. Trump (@realDonaldTrump) August 11, 2015
"@Roy_Propsner: @realDonaldTrump ...Don't give up, don't surrender your 3rd party OPTION"— Donald J. Trump (@realDonaldTrump) August 11, 2015
We must stop the crime and killing machine that is illegal immigration. Rampant problems will only get worse. Take back our country!— Donald J. Trump (@realDonaldTrump) August 11, 2015
Why is @RandPaul allowed to take advantage of the people of Kentucky by running for Senator and Pres. Why should Kentucky be back up plan?— Donald J. Trump (@realDonaldTrump) August 11, 2015
.@ericbolling you can do much better than you did tonight on @oreillyfactor. Better luck tomorrow!— Donald J. Trump (@realDonaldTrump) August 11, 2015
.@SenTedCruz had a very good debate, far better than Rand Paul.— Donald J. Trump (@realDonaldTrump) August 11, 2015
Hillary Clinton also weighed in on the Trump/Kelly feud, saying of the allegedly menstruation-related remark, "While what Donald Trump said about Megyn Kelly is outrageous, what the rest of the Republicans are saying about all women is also outrageous." In her original debate question, Kelly predicted that Hillary Clinton would use Trump's remarks about women to allege that the GOP is waging a "war on women," so now everything has come full circle.
Regarding the "on her knees" comment, I heard Mark Levin play the clip where Trump said this and it was clear to me that he was saying "that must have been a pretty picture" (or however he phrased it) to criticize her for being weak.
Same here. A new drink has been invented, it already went out and shows up in a Google search. Done. No apologies. No thanks to detractors.
A new drink better than the Bloody Mary has been introduced. To those who don't like it, no thanks.
That’s me.
I didn’t watch her show last night and I’ve eliminated it from my TIVO’s auto-record.
I actually wanted to hear a sound debate on the issues and got a tabloid mud fight. I don’t have time to waste on Kelly any more. I won’t be tuning in again.
Exactly so!
You’re right. I wrote to all three separately and then topped it off with a serious complaint I sent directly to Mr. Ailes.
M. Kelly’s gig is safe and secure at FNC at least through Ailes’ tenure.
On Megal Kelly’s approach..........
She was like a cop going into a bar fight. Picked the loudest mouth, biggest guy in the place and attack him first. Takes a lot of the fight out of the others in the brawl, and that is what she did. You didn’t see a lot of “fight” in any of the other candidates. Of course, Kelly wasn’t so “bitchy” to them either.
Quite a contrast from the president Obama.
Megyn Kelly. Red State.
I see what you did there.
Why THANK you for being so observant :)
Actually, it was early, still asleep and could not for the life of me remember Red State’s real name. Of course, my anger had NOTHING to do with memory loss of one name so insignificant.
Good morning to you, too. It’s a new day in town and the sun is shining (for the moment, at least).
megan Kelly revealed herself.
If she really was a lawyer, it speaks sad volumes of the merit of law graduates.
She is just a pretty face fed lines or playing “high maintenance gotcha” attacks and calling her ego trip “journalism”.
I am thinking of the movie idiocracy with the fox news bimbo. (anyone have a picuture?)
FBN has the remaining new regulars that are ok and not feminist stooges. I hope Kelly goes away and soon.
News has come out from Bret Bair that they were trying to trick trump so they could escort him off the stage for not following THEIR RULES.
There was no such plan for the other candidates. It is all about resuscitating jBush or a jBush surrogate (Fiorina, voted worst ceo ever)
saw that break. She was giddy. should have known then. This country does not have time to waste with her ilk of PC trash.
I, too, had seen that their plan was such. Hadn’t heard that it came from BB just that he and the blonde had planned together. If true, they both lose and I truly hate to say what this says about BB.
Have you heard the rumor that Murdock boys are now in charge (earlier than expected) and Ailes is out? Saw that posted elsewhere this early AM or late last nite. If true, BB may be attempting to march to an entirely different drummer. And MK - not certain in which direction the boys might bend, but she might have been batting her eyes in vain when speaking with Ailes. Thanks for the h/t
