Apologies.

I too have worked for companies that were bought out with promises, and as soon as the ink was dry the new owner started hacking up things.

However, I moved on, moved up, and kept plugging.

Perhaps someone who knows how to slash a budget, look for inefficiencies, and cut the fat is what out government needs. Working, and working well, are two very different measures. Imagine the crying from the unions when someone in dc actually looks to get rid of unnecessary federal agencies and programs. For them too it will be personal. But the country needs it to happen.

We do need someone in favor of slashing the federal budget.

But there’s a difference between slashing and cutting to make a company more efficient versus destroying the company in order to profit personally.

Don’t get me wrong... There’s nothing wrong with making money for yourself. It’s a ruthless game, and he’s good at playing it. The thing is, public service requires someone who doesn’t just look out for himself. Icahn is great at protecting his own interests, but we need someone in favor of slashing and cutting to make the country better.

For the record, although I did work for that company when Icahn was at the helm, I wasn’t working there when it went belly up. I’d already moved on by then, so this isn’t sour grapes talking.

I’d love it someone like Trump would come in and start taking our federal government apart, dept by dept. Scrap the wasteful, inefficient and especially the unconstitutional and make the rest work properly. The states can take responsibility for health, education, welfare, housing, banking, finance, insurance, energy, labor, retirement, welfare, mining, timber, agriculture, manufacturing, transportation, safety, weather forecasting, crime fighting, etc, etc, etc, ie, all the functions not enumerated and delegated to the federal government by the constitution should be returned to the states and the people.

You are absolutely correct. And if Trump lowers taxes, gets better trade agreements, and builds a wall to keep us from getting bled dry, this economy will roar to life like no one has ever seen. Can you imagine how he would deal with the oil industry? Drill baby drill!

You would think educators would be smarter than they seem to be. Don’t they realize that if they are completely in lock step in their beliefs, absolutely intolerant of any other perspective, AND providing a service that is useless at best it will not be long before alternatives arise and render their entire profession extinct.
