Some historical examples of US presidents behaving in an un-presidential or undignified manner while in office include, but are not limited to, war hero Andrew Jackson teaching his parrot to swear and James Monroe chasing his secretary of state out of the Oval office with fireplace tongs.
The race between President John Quincy Adams and Mr. Jackson in 1828 was one of the ugliest ever, with partisan newspaper headlines making accusations against the candidates, ranging from murder and adultery to pimping.
In more recent history, former President Lyndon B. Johnson, stands out, according to a contemporary who explained "the Johnson treatment."
"It was an incredible blend of badgering, cajolery, reminders of past favors, promises of future favors, predictions of gloom if something doesn't happen. When that man started to work on you, all of a sudden, you just felt that you were standing under a waterfall and the stuff was pouring on you."
But others in government had differing views on the 36th president.
"He hasn't got the depth of mind nor the breadth of vision to carry great responsibility ... Johnson is superficial and opportunistic," said former President Dwight Eisenhower.
Former US Attorney General and Senator Robert F. Kennedy once said of Johnson, "He tells so many lies that he convinces himself after a while he's telling the truth. He just doesn't recognize truth or falsehood."
Johnson is also attributed with stunningly off-color quotes and, on those grounds, some may consider Trump to be a bit more presidential in a very traditional sense than his opponents.

I know what the numbers are, and so does Trump.
I know he’s not stupid enough to believe that he has the slightest hope, GOP, or Turd party.
He’s here to give Hitlery a shot at it.
.
I’d still prefer not to have a President Potty Mouth. Let him skewer people on the issues he’s supposed to be discussing, the rest of it is 8th grade stuff. The debate should have not included the question he had been asked, that would have come up plenty between now and next year.
And the debate should have at least given all of them a chance to answer to the same issues to see how they would “fix” things. Later, they could have addressed issues specific to each one. Not including a chance for Donald to conjure up Beavis and Butthead and tweet his childish response to Megyn’s unfortunate question.
I don’t see anything presidential in him at this point, his good ideas will be overshadowed by his inability to contain himself and his desire to top his last outrageous comments. And will he listen to any advisers regarding issues he is not familiar with? Will he blab war strategies as Obama has done?
Read your own tagline dude.
So he will never get the opportunity to face Hillary.
That's all it takes to keep FR alive. Please, Mjaye, make a little commitment,
This is your voice of free speech. Please help us.
I am only a supporter of FR. I can't speak for FR
But I know that FR speaks for me...and for you.
In more modern era, LBJ used profanity regularly, Billy Jefferson Clinton unzipped his pant zipper and asked women subordinates to kiss it. Trump is a saint compared to those.
Trump is a family man. He needs to unzip for no one.
First you said Trump was not serious.
Then you said he will never file papers to run.
Then you said he will never file his financial data.
Then you said he will flame out after the McCain comment.
Now you are saying “Trump cannot win, no matter what.”
What will you say next?
“Trump can not be trusted to run for a 2nd term?”
Of course lest we forget Harry Truman.
I said little of what you assert.
Either you’re blind, stupid, or just a common liar.
Which is it?
All i have said is that trump is in this for hillary.
He knows he cannot win, and he wouldn’t want to win anyway, since he’d have to put his entire holdings into a blind trust.
Get real, please!
You are the treason for my tagline.
I know you can’t help it, but reality is so.... Real.
I agree with much of your post, but look at the facts; he is playing Ross Perot to the max for Hillary.
.
He has no desire to face Hillary!
He is here to give her a chance that she would not have without his game. He owes the Clintons.
You know, all this PC is B.S. “Be nice.”
In the olden days, when we had freedom and the feds were actually bound by the Constitution, these politicians would scream out insults to one another and end up shooting each other in duals etc.
I long for the good old days.
You haven’t posted for over a year. How bout sending us $10 a month>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>
I have posted fairly often this last year, and would like to know where your stats come from. Not sure if I like a public flogging, perhaps we could cut to the chase and post a giant list of all Freepers and their contributions or lack thereof. Having said that, I will set up a contribution as I had hoped to do as soon as several other issues were settled.
LOL. You mean the Hillary he called the worst Secretary of State in history and a criminal who should be in jail?
Yep, that’s the one.
If anyone is going to be judged by how much they post or how much they give, that ought to come from Jim. Not one of us making guesses about a fellow Freeper.
Not long ago someone suggested there was a problem with the old 1998 account names, suggesting a breach of the database and a bunch of pro-Trump imposter's trying to ruin FR and our conservative cause. Your comments Mjaye, appear to strengthen my opinion that no hack has occurred.
I post far less than I read. And I read most every day. I contribute proudly as one of those 1998 accounts because I can.
It keeps FR alive.
Every little bit helps.
This sort of thing bothers me. Anyone being pestered about how much they contribute to FR, personally. Don’t feed into that by offering a public apology please.<<<<
Thanks for your comments. If I hadn’t already thrown FR into the hopper to contribute, I wouldn’t have said so.
And when I said I have posted frequently in the past year, those were replies, which to me, is posting on a site. I realized that here, posting probably means originating a thread.
I missed the issue about the 1998 members, which include me, and would be interested to know more of the story on that.
