Seattle Restaurants Suffer Worse Job Loss Since The Great Recession

According to a report released Sunday by the American Enterprise Institute (AEI), the $15 minimum wage has caused Seattle restaurants to lose 1,000 jobs — the worst decline since the 2009 Great Recession.

“The loss of 1,000 restaurant jobs in May following the minimum wage increase in April was the largest one month job decline since a 1,300 drop in January 2009, again during the Great Recession,” AEI Scholar Mark J. Perry noted in the report.

You know it. And if I knew the waitstaff was making $15, for sure there would be no tip.

My bet is the liberal elites in Seattle will buy up all the land of those stores, warehouse it, let the neighborhoods go to crap and then take government money so those not working can get gibmedats.

Heck there's people now..that will pick your food up for you...and deliver it to you.

Eateries that don't deliver...are very much included.

Small fee, of course....

Yep, pretty soon the suburbs will be like the Paris “Banlieues” where all the undesirables live.

I hope the minimum wage gets doubled to 30 dollars an hour in Seattle. Everyone who voted Democrat deserves a better pay check.

I’ve been waitressing for less than a month in a small town in rural Minnesota. I’m already doing pretty well with tips: I certainly average higher than $15/hour. Raising the minimum wage would hurt servers and there would be less incentive to give excellent service. I’ve gotten many tips above 20%-probably because I’m an adult who knows what paying customers expect. I’m also hustling like crazy, we all are, to make sure we meet the needs of our customers. Without the possibility if a tip, service may decline for some waitresses.

It shouldn’t, but there is something about a reward based on performance that pushes servers to excellence.

The other side is many will voluntary cut hours. Make to much, and you no longer qualify for assistance.

We see that at my job a lot. Some will work right up the the dollar where they begin to lose benefits, and call in sick after that. We fire them, but one person I gave an exit interview with laid out what she was going to lose, and how much we would have to pay her to make it work her time to work.

I did some quick checking, and she was right. Losing housing assistance, WIC, child care assistance, free school lunches... it was worth more to her to work a little bit than to get paid to much.

It’s looking more and more like the idea is the “ringed” city plans from the left wing kooks of the 1960s.

Cities were designed as a center hub inner city for the elites, govt. officials and nonphysical paper push workers.

Each ring around the cities would be for different classes of people depending on their jobs and they could live near their job.

Left wingers never give up on their ideas no matter how kooky they are.
