Trump never said “Get on your knees”. They paraphrased what happened, remove content and created a whole new context. Here is the exchange 23 seconds:

The nature of some of the questions were designed to single out Trump and make him uncomfortable and defensive right off. No one asked Jeb Bush about things he said about women. No one asked Ben Carson about bankruptcies.

What it was I don't know. It wasn't a debate that's for sure. In a debate a common issue is presented and parties present their arguments for and against it.

It wasn't a forum because in a forum each candidate is allowed time to present their position on issues (uninterrupted).

Whatever it was intended to be it did not represent the apex of the journalistic profession (however low that may be right now).
