The repeated presupposition seems to be that we are interviewing candidates for the position of King, and anyone speaking well of Trump is accused of wanting a bad (unconservative) King.
If that is our attitude, we’ve already lost. What ever happened to “no king but Jesus”?
There is a passage in the gospels where people were ready to forcibly make Jesus the king. A more deserving Person could hardly be imagined, but He declined. Seems logical to me, because He knew that any King that was set up by the people, would be a stupid idol, the medium of their projected imaginations. He wouldn’t be getting the worship due Him as the King to be established by the Father and then, as such, accepted by the people. He’d be used as a figurehead for people’s prides.
No, He was not of this world, in the political sense.
His mandate was much grander.
You know, I think back to the Judges and Kings. Wehn the children of Israel petitioned God for a king and He relented.
I have a hard time understanding a concept where there isn’t a leader. I see the King as a natural leader. What were they supposed to do, only listen to the Priests?
Actually Israel cried out for a King first....They got Saul...a mighty warrior he would be...but power went to his head and he ended up falling on his own sword.
