In the end, if Trump wants to keep the momentum, Trump is going to have to respect the, er, momentor.
This is bigger than Trump. Fate (to speak rhetorically, we know, as always, it is the Lord) has matched some very hot issues up with his famous megaphone. And he is getting mileage.
The question now is what shall the rest of us do with this phenomenon.
Is any kind of Donald dialogue going on? I think he should be hearing from these new grass roots, urging him to understand what he has tapped into.
"Have you noticed that they run as us! Thats how they run"
Texas Sen. Ted Cruz warned a conservative grassroots audience Saturday that many of his Republican rivals are faking conservative credentials in their bids to become the GOP nominee.
I support Cruz and agree with his statement.
RE: So him calling for the shut down of the government until Planned Parenthood is defunded is eveidence of him being pro choice? Okay, thanks.
THAT is not the issue, the issue is him FLIP FLOPPING at a very convenient time.
One cannot help but think that Trump is an opportunist one who, by the way, continues to contribute to liberal Democrats, including $6,000 to liberal Democrat Kamala Harris in her successful campaign for California attorney general, and who now is running to replace retiring California senator Barbara Boxer.
Because, of course, a Republican, conservative, tough-on-illegal-immigration, Obamacare-overturning, tax-lowering, spending-reducing presidential candidate, if elected, would want to have as many liberal Democrats in Congress as possible.
In the debate, He explains his contribution to the Clinton Foundation by telling the nation that he did it in order for Hillary to attend his wedding. SAY WHAT?
Why is it important for Hillary to attend his wedding? Will it be any less legitimate if she were absent? I wonder why nobody called him out on this.
Those who are skeptical of him are skeptical for a good reason.
Let’s look at economic policy. Larry Kudlow, after reviewing Trumps past statements on taxes, spending, and trade, explains:
In a Wall Street Journal op-ed back in May 1999, Trump praised Ronald Reagans tax-rate cuts.
[ ]
Trump also attacked [former Senator Bill] Bradley for putting a lid on IRA savings accounts, which caused a big drop in personal retirement saving.
[ ]
But Trump shifted into tax-the-rich mode during the 2000 presidential campaign[, proposing] a one-time tax of 14.25 percent on the assets of individuals and trusts in excess of $10 million [to] pay off Americas debt.
[ ]
Later on, Trump shifted again, saying he was strongly in favor of extending the George W. Bush tax cuts ...
And so on.
Trump supporters have explained their unshakeable support for Trump as He says what I think. Thats exactly right: Trump says what YOU think, not what he thinks.
And with five party switches and potentially a sixth on the horizon, we may never know. Because Donald Trump is an opportunist, with numerous past flip-flops to prove it.
And you blame us for being skeptical?
Sorry, WE ARE JUSTIFIED IN OUR SKEPTICISM.
