Ted Cruz, Carly Fiorina and Dr. Ben Carson moved up in the polls the most in the first polls conducted following the first GOP presidential debates.
In a new NBC News/Survey Monkey poll released on Sunday, Texas Senator Ted Cruz, a constitutional conservative, catapulted into second place overall, increasing by a whopping 7% over the prior poll, putting him at 13% overall, more than doubling his prior support of 6%, according to the poll.
Cruz, a former national collegiate debate champion, soared despite having his debate performance largely put on mute mode by major media outlets, including FOX News.
Businesswoman Carly Fiorina, who most believe won the happy hour debate among the bottom seven candidates, surged 6%, leapfrogging several candidates and is now tied for fourth place with Florida Senator Marco Rubio, whose numbers were unchanged following the debate.
Retired neurosurgeon Ben Carson increased his poll numbers by three points, moving into third place overall. Carson was considered to have one of the strongest closing statements of any candidate in either debate.
Overall, it was a terrible night, according to the poll, for establishment RINO candidates. Establishment-backed candidate Jeb Bush, who has constantly been pushed by media outlets as the inevitable GOP nominee, fell from second place all the way to being tied for fifth place with Wisconsin Governor Scott Walker. Both Bush and Walker had three points shaved off their prior to the debate numbers following their uninspiring debate performances.
Another RINO, New Jersey Governor Chris Christie, who got into a heated brouhaha with Kentucky Senator Rand Paul over the Fourth Amendment and NSA spying, crashed by 2/3, falling all the way to 1% from 3%. Rand Paul dropped 1%, but is now only 2% below Jeb Bush.
Ohio Governor John Kasich, who sounded like a big government progressive during the debate and was roundly praised by both liberal media and FOX News pundits, actually lost support, losing a full 1/3 of his prior supporters.
Below is the new breakdown for the still crowded GOP field following the first debates, according to the new NBC News/Survey Monkey poll:
Real estate tycoon Donald Trump helped himself slightly during the debate, according to the poll. Trump, who has left the political class shocked and dumbfounded over his surprising success, increased by 1% and leads at 23%, 10% over Cruzs 13%.
GOPe, go p*ss up a rope.
There is going to be some shakeup in the polling rankings amongst the candidates for sure.
This poll maybe a true indicator but we’ll see. It was conducted over Friday night into
Saturday by Survey Monkey of 3,551 adults from its three million participants who take
survey polls on their site.

I didn’t know that myself. I agree with him.
Have you read the book yet?
I’m just in the introduction and already my head is exploding.
Thanks for posting the picture of Sen. Cruz and daughter.
You rock.
Those pics were so precious I got tears in my eyes.
Thanks for posting!
I’m about half done. Alternating between his book and Mark Levins.
I haven’t bought Mark’s book yet.
I just finished Ann Coulter’s new one, but since she said on Twitter that Ted Cruz isn’t a citizen, I think I’ll set it on fire.
They both deserve a yellow, instead of green, on immigration.
DON’T LET YOUR HEAD EXPLODE!
It would decrease the net beauty in America.
And that, I cannot abide.
Jibberish. The shifts took place based on the strength of performances by each candidate. Trump actually gained a point on a mixed, probably overall neutral performance.
The larger shifts went from Walker, Bush and Cristie, and several who lost 1%. Walker, Bush and Cristie gave lackluster performances. All shifts track the perceived strength of performance with Cruz, Carson and Fiorina being the big gainers. And this is still one poll with a fairly high margin of error.
Perhaps we will be...But right now Trump is breaking down barriers that Ted Cruz can not get thru which is helping Ted tremendously...
As the other candidates drop out, their support shifts within the non-Trump sector, more than it shifts to Trump.>

If the debate had been professionally done and the questions about critical issues for everyone, Trump might well have gained several points but he was too much under attack to shine very much in that debate.

See, it is working. Trump is taking heat and the MSM and pundits are all focused on him alone. Cruz is slowly rising.
Lost in all the Trump/Kelly hoopla was Kelly’s snide question about “what does God say to you”. She was dripping with sarcasm and went to Cruz figuring she could make him look like a religious nut. His answer was a heartfelt testimony about how finding the Lord turned his father’s and his family’s life around, and that God “speaks” to him through the Bible. It was eloquent, moving, and mockery proof.
24 million people saw that (thanks Donald) and no doubt had a lot to do with his poll # rise.
Cruz/Nugent 2016.
Works for me...
Agreed.
I sent Ted another donation, Saturday night.
I love you so much.
