Vacationers don’t have any respect for people or property. Just a few minutes ago, a dad drove his boat up to the neighbor’s dock and let his 4 kids run around the yard and go up on top of their boat house, open the gate and jump off half a dozen times before he saw me. Imagine if a kid got hurt and he’d have sued the property owner. Fishermen are always roaming around on our docks, leaving fish guts and pizzing. Un-freakin’ believable.
We have a boat in a marina in Ventura Ca. Unfortunately there are 2 hotels right beside the marina. I am forever telling people no, they can’t use our bathrooms and running them out of our locked gates that lead down to our docks. They’ll grab the gate to keep it from closing when a resident goes out and act like they’re supposed to be here. You can tell they’re not. I tell them to get out rather rudely.
Ten years ago, nobody behaved like this. Even 5 years ago. Now, it’s constant. Total strangers thinking we built our dock just for their pleasure and feed the fish just so they can drop their line inside our boat house. Not PC but these are white folk and usually ones with a bit of money so you’d think they’d know how to behave or at least try to in front of their kids.
There was a big shot computer VP (not naming names but I’m in Texas) who would camp out on people’s decks making himself at home. Tie off his boat, come in their yards, rearrange their chairs, light a fire and have a few beers but would take offense when the owners would tell him and his kids to leave. Thing is, he lived right down from us so had his own deck, his own chairs and his own beer.
Remember the springtime floods in Texas? Well, we caught another neighbor dumping his debris on someone else’s lot and acted like they should thank him for it. Unbelievable! It’s this mentality that keeps the border wide open and sees nothing wrong with expired student visas.
I think it was the sheriff who did the interview. McKiethen definitely feels that way. He promotes CCW and training.
