I always thought he was smart. He saw the Tea Party parade forming up and jumped out in front of it. He started his website and sold it to Salem Communications for a tidy sum.
I’ve listened to him. My wife listened to him driving home. I never could stand his voice tenor, frankly. I also got the clear impression he was a “name dropper” and self-promoter above anything else.
