KUALA LUMPUR, Malaysia After more than a year of waiting the first piece of Malaysia Airlines Flight 370 has been found.
Experts have confirmed that the debris found on Reunion Island last week was that of Malaysian Airlines flight 370 that went missing last year, Malaysia's prime minister said Wednesday.
"It is with a very heavy heart that I must tell you that an international team of experts has conclusively confirmed that the aircraft debris ... is indeed MH370," Prime Minister Najib Razak told reporters.
Malaysian Airlines published a press release shortly after the debris was confirmed:

Family members of passengers and crew have already been informed and we extend our deepest sympathies to those affected.
This is indeed a major breakthrough for us in resolving the disappearance of MH370. We expect and hope that there would be more objects to be found which would be able to help resolve this mystery.
Moving forward, Malaysia Airlines priority will continue to provide latest updates and information to the families and will fully cooperate with the relevant authorities on the investigation and recovery of this tragic accident.

The wing fragment washed up on the Indian Ocean island of Reunion and was sent to France, where experts began examining it on Wednesday. Investigators will analyze the metal with high-powered microscopes to probe what caused the plane to go down.
The debris was discovered last week on the French island of Reunion and was loaded Friday onto a plane bound for France.
The Boeing 777 jetliner disappeared 515 days ago on March 8 while on a flight from Kuala Lumpur to Beijing with 239 people on board. It is believed to have crashed in the Indian Ocean, but the reason remains one of aviation's biggest mysteries.
Once again, more questions than answers.
But, closure for the families.
Was there ever any doubt? Not too many spare Boeing 777 parts lying around, especially in the ocean.
Yes. But it puts to rest all those conspiracy theories that it was hijacked and is sitting in a hangar awaiting use in a terror attack.
‘...closure...’
Perhaps, but if I were family I’d be plenty pissed about reports of the shortcomings of the search contractor (which may have sailed over & not discovered the wreckage).
My word is ‘torture’...it’s too big an ocean to call a gravesite.
Well, now that we know the plane crash in the Indian Ocean somewhere, the more important mystery is still this:
How did a 777 going North from Kuala Lumpur to Beijing suddenly turn West and lost all forms of communication?
So far the best explanation is another Arab Allah-Akbar pilot, carrying out his destiny. RIH.
I don’t know, maybe they’ll seek and find?
RE: So far the best explanation is another Arab Allah-Akbar pilot, carrying out his destiny
The least he could do is telegraph his intentions...
I am very relieved that they have decided it is from MH370 . I am sure that the families were hoping their loved ones were being held somewhere, I feel bad for them but relieved for the rest of the world.

Quite a few on here had it positioned in Iran being converted to a suicide machine.
I doubt it.
Yes Boeing had two representatives. Your other question was answered by the Frenchman who gave the news conference. Find a copy of transcript. The translator was very poor.
Yes,Occam Razor.
