AT&T, Verizon and T-Mobile users across the country, but especially in the Southeast reported outages Tuesday afternoon, with reports coming in from California, the midwest U.S. and the Chattanooga region.
Though some users reported that their phones displayed several bars of signal strength, they were still unable to complete calls or use mobile data.
AT&T's outages appeared to be concentrated in Kentucky, Tennessee and North Georgia, with other scattered outages appearing from coast to coast, with T-Mobile users losing service in Huntsville, Alabama, and Louisville, Kentucky.

I just tried a local number. It was clear but I got a message that the number could not be reached. It took 3 tries but probably nothing wrong as I often have that happen.
1985 had all the communication technology the world could possibly need and more.

When I was in high school we wore penny loafers but would keep nickles in them just in case we would need to make a call on the way home. Can’t honestly remember when I last saw a pay phone.
When I started my business many years later I finally agreed to get a pager but hated the intrusion so much that I never turned it on. Now have a cell phone with no texting. It is only for emergency use and to answer calls from my kids and grandkids. Only thing I really miss when the net is down is FR!!!

Rsoe reported Rhode Island at 2:00 had statewide power outage. Massachusetts several counties around 2:00
