Citizen seems to notice a police officer driving around and around his neighborhood while he is working on his boat in his driveway.

Police officer doesn't like being filmed by someone in his own yard and decides to stop and pull gun on him.

What questions have I evaded?

To sum up.

I have no problem with the guy taping or arguing with the cop.

Not sure the cop needed to approach the guy and draw his gun, but we don’t know what he saw

Even if the guy is on his own property, the officer can still demand to see his hands. Little known fact, today’s modern bullets have the ability to cross property lines.

Once the guy refused to show his hands, I lost all sympathy for him. That is thug behavior, not law abiding citizen behavior.

Even if he had been right up until then (don’t know if he was or not) he surrendered all legal and moral high ground by refusing to take his hand out of his pocket to show he was not a threat.

As for Trump he has been a NYC Liberal all his life. Pro gun control, pro abortion, pro illegal, pro socialized medicine. If you choose to believe his act, fine. I am not that gullible.

City responds:

Regarding video of Rohnert Park Public Safety Officer:

We’ve been made aware of this matter and we are taking it seriously. We understand the concerns that have been raised by our community and others and we want the public to know that your trust in law enforcement in our City is a top priority. As a result, we will conduct an internal review to verify that appropriate protocols were followed. We will also review our protocols because we want to make sure we are using the best practices for the highest level of safety for both our officers and the community.

Established socialists are exercising their authority to indulge in gradual sedition against our nation with demonstrations, harassment and no reasonable causes for suspicion. Not referring to the police flunkies, but rather, their more politically influential bosses of local socialist governments. Look behind the police at their most influential local constituents in government and government-connected services.

De-fund them all, before they default on big government debts and leave their offices sooner to commit more traditional, ostensible crimes (see Greece, all).

Showing his hand could have been the furtive movement the cop was looking for.
Think of the six months to a year paid leave of absence and the very low chance of any real discipline.

Total Non Sequitur.

At issue is not the safety of the cop, but the rights of a citizen to remain free from molestation without cause by the state.

What questions have I evaded?

The officer doesn’t know whether he is armed or not and the guy sounded a bit irrational. If the cop had shot him, it would have been his own fault.

One more time just for you.

Begs the question; If the homeowner was such a threat why did the cop turn his back on the homeowner several times after all the intimidation didn't work?

If he was such a threat, why did the cop simply holster his weapon then drive away?

“Do police, without a warrant, and no probable cause, have the authority to give you orders on your own property?”

Sure - if you are doing something illegal. Setting off fireworks I imagine, shooting a gun in the city. Pointing a gun at someone. And it is just one step from having your hand in your pocket to pointing a gun at the cop. But I don’t know.

It seems this whole thing got overblown by the cop. But for me, I make it a point for my hands to be visible when talking with a cop. If your view of them is as a JBT, or you just want to be polite and ease their minds a bit that they don’t need to worry about you - seems like a simple and easy enough thing to do.

Btw, I just noted on YouTube alone, it went from like 310 hits to nearly 1,500 in just a few minutes.

And just just a few minutes later, the video has now had well over 3,000 hits!!

I love the Internet.

Oh crap - I missed the part about “probable cause”.

I’m guessing pointing a weapon at the guy walking his dog down the street would be considered probable cause.

“But officer - the dog crapped on my lawn!”

There may be more to this story, but the fact that the cop pulled his weapon for no apparent reason seems out of line to me. Where was the threat? The fact that he was being filmed? Was he just in a bad mood? Absent more information, the cop seems like a bomb waiting to go off.

“The cop has the authority to tell you to keep your hands where he can see them.”

Not if he has no business telling me anything in the first place, which seems to be the case here. Police need some kind of legitimate cause before they can tell me to do squat. Otherwise, police could wander around, randomly barking out orders, and then shooting us if we don’t comply quickly enough.

Oh wait, it seems we are heading in that direction nowadays anyway.

Why did the cop want to escalate this? He should have just got out and said,”Hey son, going out fishing this weekend?”. Instead he just goes all thug.

Exactly right, which is why I am hoping that there is more to this story, because from what we can see in this video, this cop is a threat to the citizens he is sworn to protect.

I really don’t care about all that.

The video show the cop driving, stopping, exiting his vehicle, doing what he did, and then driving away. From start to finish. It was complete.

What I saw was totally outrageous. The cop should not only be fired, but they need to determine how in tarnation this guy got hired and who hired him. Then find out what the hell other surprises exist in this guys background.

The cop showed great restraint not shooting the nutjob when he became agitated, yelled at the cop and refused to take his hand of his pocket.

Wow.

"Even if the guy is on his own property, the officer can still demand to see his hands. Little known fact, today’s modern bullets have the ability to cross property lines."

Between some of the more mental/socialist public servants, ISIS and other foreign enemy cells threatening us, we might see quite a show. Obviously, both are against law-abiding residents and on the same side. Get out of way, I say. Both factions love antagonisms. It's a good time to improve video security with real-time Internet uploads, stay at home (to avoid generating big tourism revenues), stock up on popcorn and get ready for the funny show.

I don’t know. The resident might have finally taken his hand out of his pocket (we can’t see on the video) or maybe after taking a closer look could tell there was no weapon in his pocket or maybe he screwed up by walking away.

“What is the background of this?”

Don’t know, but the cop said he didn’t know the guy, so whatever it was, it apparently had nothing to do with it.
