The State Department has made a determination approving a possible Foreign Military Sale to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia for ammunition for the Royal Saudi Land Forces (RSLF) and associated equipment, parts and logistical support for an estimated cost of $500 million.

The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia has requested a possible sale of (1,000,000) 430/M430A1 40mm High Explosive Dual Purpose (HEDP) Cartridges, (60,000) M456A1 105mm High Explosive Anti-Tank Tracer (HEAT-T) Cartridges, and (60,000) M107 155mm High Explosive (HE) Projectiles.

TOPICS: Foreign Affairs; War on Terror
KEYWORDS: houthis; saudiarabia; yemen
The 430/M430A1 40mm "grenade" is typically used in the MK 19 machine gun. A million rounds....

I like this part: "The proposed sale of this ammunition will not alter the basic military balance in the region."

Well that is faint praise indeed for the Saudi's.

M456A1 105mm High Explosive Anti-Tank Tracer (HEAT-T)

This is shaped charge ammunition for the M68 tank gun. The gun is found on older M1 and much older M-60 tanks. They may be building up their stockpiles for their reserve forces.

Be on the lookout for dramatically increased Saudi donations to the Clinton Family Foundation

They are engaged in a HOT proxy war with Iran - and it’s a lot hotter than the media lets on.

The Saudis only have @450 M60s.
That much ammo for them is an entire service life worth, @150 rounds per gun. Enough to wear out the barrels on all of them. Or one wars worth of basic load plus reserve.
The 155 m107 is also curious as this is older stuff that has been replaced. They have plenty of 155 pieces that can shoot much better ammo. Maybe these are also meant for the older M114 155s in reserve. If so its 1000 rounds per gun. Which is a wars worth for these.

Ah, yes, our friends the Saudis, the same ones that gave us the Wahhabi sect, that now control Iran. Who are they going to pay to fight for them when the chips are down? With all the money there, the fat sheiks I’m sure will evacuate the country via air fleets, and then ask us to go there and do the actual fighting while their sons take up the sun and fun on the Riviera? I’m not wild about the Saudi’s because I feel they are playing us.

Wahabbis don’t control Iran.
The Wahabbis worst enemies, the radical Shiites control Iran.
Al Quaeda, Isis and all the Wahabbi offshoots basically hate everyone, but they hate Shiites worst of all.
