Maryland Gov. Larry Hogan has slashed tolls on the states highways, canceled Baltimores long-planned Red Line light-rail project and, last week, dramatically announced the closure of the citys deeply troubled Mens Detention Center.
Hogan, Marylands first Republican governor in nearly a decade, did not need the backing of the Democratic-controlled state legislature for any of those decisions. He announced them on his own, deriding inaction by past administrations and acknowledging that he had made little effort to seek Democratic legislative leaders input before he acted.
The governors in-your-face approach contrasts with the pledges of bipartisanship he made after his election and at his inauguration. And although it is thrilling many of his supporters, it is stirring resentment among some Democrats in the General Assembly, whose support Hogan would need if he wants to make changes that require the passage of new laws.

He announced them on his own”
...how many EO’s has Obama got under his belt?
In consultation with Sen. James E. DeGrange Sr, the Governor asked “how do ya like them apples Senator?
Can you say “Schadenfreude” ?
As if this country needs more laws. If all he can do is stymie the plans in place or stop boondoggles (light rail - don't they already have one?) it would be a good thing.
If is wasn’t so sad, it would be funny how the writer of this piece misses the simulates between the gov and the prez
Not to worry, the Obama Just-us Dept will be riding to the rescue in short order. About thirty seconds after the cries of “RACISM” make the front pages.
Then in the holy name of civil rights, Hogan will be slapped down and Just-us restored.
Yes! Marylanders should rejoice if the republican governor models more of his administration after the administration of the tiny little president. Maybe a bit more ignoring laws and not enforcing requirements with which he disagrees.
Ovetta Wiggins is a good fascist. Listen to the latest talking points and then parrot them...with the same IQ. Hey Ovetty, sweetie, place the word "president's" in place of "governor's". Never mind, that would require you to actually use intellectual honesty. You are not qualified to operate that heavy machinery. You might hurt yourself.
The difference between the two is that the opposition party in Maryland’s legislature will most likely act against him when he needs their support down the road, unlike the opposition party in Washington, who never retaliate against Barry’s heavy-handed unilateral dictates. They always give him the votes he needs.
The reporter/op-ed writer seems to forget the simple thing like what would be better for the state/commonwealth rather than being concerned about future co-operation with the moonbat’s in the house. Typical ...I know I am an A___ole but this female Olivia Wiggins is an educated idiot with a pen...I would have a hard time having a conversation with someone so ignorant of what an elected “PUBLIC SERVANTS” job is,
I would have agreed with you if 2014 had gone the other way. I was quite shocked that Hogan beat someone who I thought would be a shoo-in, so maybe there is hope for Maryland.
In maryland “hope” is merely an illusion. What there currently is is an aberration that happens there every few years. It will be stifled. There are too many idiot LIBs and gibmedats in that “sanctuary” state.

Gov Hogan Ping
Hoo ha! I challenge the Wash Compost press to come up with examples of Martin O’Malley’s bipartisanship
And btw, democrat crowing about tax increases that started immediately after he took office was pretty “ in your face”.... They could not WAIT to get their hands on Ehlich’s surplus
Well, what they’re really complaining about is that Hogan is rolling back the worst of O’Malley’s taxes and regulations without giving them the opportunity to impede it all.
Hogan sounds like Maryland taxpayers’ hero...

As a resident of the Old Line state, aka the people’s republic of maryland, I can attest that is truly an aberration to have a republican governor in place. Hogan will likely be a one term governor not unlike Bob Ehrlich several years ago. The voters temporarily wake up from their slumber and through their ballot submissions say “hey, wait a minute”. But like the movie “Awakenings” they will revert to their catatonic state soon enough and return a leftist to the governor’s mansion consistent with the make up of the statehouse.
