Uh oh...I hope Glenn Beck does not hear about this...They think Romney won on that show. This is why they hate Trump so much..because he bad mouthed Romney in 2012. Now they’ll they’ll turn against Cruz and into the arms of Scott Walker, unless a Mormon gets into the race that is..

Too bad Cruz is an H-1B whore. I’d like him if he wasn’t in the pocket of Free Traitors, GloBULLISt and Crony Corporatist. Other than that he is a great guy.

I'm reading his book. Milton Friedman had a huge influence on Cruz, and Friedman is a free trade absolutist.

Not that he would have been much better, but Zero has done MOST of his damage in the second term.

We could have been spared a lot of that.

I did not really like Romney. But the Republicans selected him and the point was not so much get Romney in but keep King Obama OUT! Sad that we had such a hard choice but only the ignorant could not see the lesser of the two evils and WE AT THAT POINT NEVER HAD A CHANCE BUT TO KEEP KING OBAMA OUT, OUT, OUT. Stupid Republicans just were too ignorant to see the difference. Well enjoy the King.

And we may do the same damn ignorant thing again.

“Now, in between the two tidal waves, the Republican Party, in its infinite wisdom, sought out and found the one human being on the face of the planet who had designed and implemented a program just like Obamacare. Literally—there are 7 billion people on Earth. You could have grabbed any other person and asked them, ‘Excuse me, sir, have you designed and implemented Obamacare? No? You’re a better candidate!’”

BRILLIANT.

Likewise in 2008, after two rounds of bruising fights over Bush’s AMNESTY attempt, there were dozens of Republicans qualified to run for the White House. But of all them, the party choose the ONE CANDIDATE that wrote the actual Amnesty bills - right after those fights.

Cruz could have some fun with that too!

To paraphrase whar Sir Winston Churchhill said about his opponent (and future PM) Clement Atlee: “Mr. Romney is a modest man and he has a lot to be modest about." A better description of Romney would be hard to frame. The guy is a gutless, spineless, and clueless loser.

Mitt should be ridiculed, the guy had the ball in the red zone, and didn’t even get a field goal out of it.

Free trade is economic suicide. It takes a century to build up a manufacturing base. It takes 1 generation to lose it.

While in Boston in 2014, we took a bus tour with a lady driver who hates the liberalism of MA politics. She was very knowledgeable in her historic remarks. She loathed how she seldom if ever has anyone for whom she can vote.

...

There are more conservatives than liberals in MA as there are in almost all states. The problem is with the political parties and corruption.

Haha. Churchill also said to Harry Truman about Atlee, “Harry, remember this about Clement Atlee, there’s a lot less there than meets the eye!”

Free trade is economic suicide. It takes a century to build up a manufacturing base. It takes 1 generation to lose it.

Friedman's reasoning is sound, if you accept his assumptions. His assumptions basically assume that the dominant reason for a policy is efficient allocation of resources.

His assumptions are wrong. As his field is economics, and not philosophy (in the broader sense) or history etc. he does not and cannot factor in problems like another country undermining a key strength. Much has been made of Japan's massive rice subsidies. If a small country like Japan cannot maintain a basic agricultural system, it could be extorted by primary food exporting countries, or one country with a really good navy. The same goes for manufacturing and energy (ask War of 1861's southern Confederacy or WWII Nazis).

The Red Chinese wre the first Marxist "heretics" when they declared "Socialism in one country". The international nature of the Revolution was the cornerstone of Marxism. The United States has enough natural resources and able people, that we could pretty reasonably pull off "Capitalism in one country"! It is better to finance the cost of our government through tariffs on goods imported from those who have no stake in our country than by our record high corporate taxes on U.S. based businesses.
